Institute). Veronica does not feel very well. She started the first chemotherapy cycle.

finished the second cycle of chemotherapy. She tolerated it worse than the first
one. Her blood counts dropped, and her platelet count is low. But the tumor lesion
in Lera's liver shrank to 1.5 cm, based on control ultrasound.

really enjoyed the holiday celebrations at the hospital. The doctors allowed him to
come out to the hall several times a day and attend celebrations at the game room.

the whole month with him. Zhenya cannot wait to see his dad.

19.12.2011 Unfortunately, Alesha Laptev's
transplant from a donor did not engraft. On December 6th he underwent a second bone marrow
transplantation. He is still in cytopenia. On December 20th Alesha will have a puncture that
will help evaluate transplantation results. Lesha feels relatively well. His temperature is normal,
but his blood pressure is high. He receives Vfend and Ampholip to treat fungal infection in
his lungs.
19.12.2011 Lera Sukhoverkhova
is at the day patient facility getting maintenance chemotherapy and Vfend.
There are no blasts in the peripheral blood. If blast counts in the bone
marrow increase Lera will be administered another anti-relapse chemotherapy
course, and if her condition remains stable she will be on maintenance therapy
until the middle of January and then in January a haploidentical transplantation
from her mother will be performed.
18.12.2011 Based on the last CT scan,
Sasha Obertyuk still has lesions on both
kidneys and several lesions in his lungs. On December 6th he started
chemotherapy. On the 4th day of chemo, his condition worsened: he
had acute kidney failure and toxic hepatitis. By now, blood biochemistry
had improved, although Sasha still has fatigue, neuropathy, dizziness and
unstable blood pressure. Sasha is optimistic, as usual, and he makes plans
for the future.
18.12.2011 Lera Bychkova
and her mother are back in Germany; the next antibody therapy course
begins tomorrow.
18.12.2011 Misha Stepanov is
still being examined since the doctors are not sure that the newly found
neoformation is malignant and is a relapse. Also there is no final decision
as to what kind of therapy is best for the boy. Blood counts are normal,
Misha is feeling fine.
18.12.2011 Vika Gladinets
had a Dacogen treatment course and is now administered maintenance chemotherapy
with low doses of Cytozar and Purinethol. The levels of minimal residual
disease became lower, but the skin GVH reaction got worse, so Vika is now
on hormones. The girl also needs Noxafil for antifungal therapy. Vika
is feeling ok.
18.12.2011 Natalia Kharatishvili
had another maintenance chemotherapy course, based on the examination results
she has a stable remission. Unfortunately a fungal infection was found in her
lungs, so Vfend was prescribed. The final decision on the antifungal therapy
will be made after the consultation at the Mycology Research Institute.
Natalia is feeling ok. The donor has not been found yet.
18.12.2011 Anya Andreeva
came to the Raisa Gorbacheva Institute of Children's Hematology and
Transplantology for an examination and another photopheresis course.
Her basic disease is in remission. Anya is feeling fine, but the skin
GVH reaction has gotten a bit worse. The girl still needs Noxafil.
18.12.2011 Andrei Ezhov is on
home schooling, he is feeling fine. The boy is under the hematologists' control,
his blood counts are too low so far and he gets colds all the time.

prescribed a high dose chemotherapy course. The first block was very hard
for Vika, she had a high fever and a severe intoxication. Now Vika is feeling
better, and most importantly, she responds to the treatment: the tumor became
twice smaller and there are no new foci. The girl is now administered the next
chemotherapy course.

home and will continue with the rehabilitation course in her home town.
The girl's leg is functioning better, she can bend her knee and hip joint.
Nino can now walk. The basic disease is in remission. Nino is to come

surgery is being verified, but it could amount to several hundred thousand rubles.

is scheduled for November 25th and will cost 16,000 rubles.

Kolya Markov has tumor progression with growth
into nerve tissues and spread to the other leg. Unfortunately,
chemotherapy is ineffective. Kolya is being monitored by hospice
doctors. Kolya has fever and practically does not eat. During weekend
he was allowed to go home. On Monday Kolya will return to the hospice.

it's now 55 days past the transplantation. Everything is fine.
There are over 95% of donor cells in the bone marrow. Blood test
revealed a cytomegalovirus, Irina has been administered a course
of Cymevene, now she's on Valcyte and Cyclosporine.

them half of the estimated amount (4350 euros), and they got 4150 euros back.

was administered one more cycle of chemotherapy, more intensive, under
anti-relapse regimen. He is now recovering and feeling relatively well.

got strong cough and was referred to CT scan of lungs. His skin GVHD is
under control, but he has some problems still. Vfend is needed.

but due to an autoimmune process his platelets and red blood cells are being destroyed and he

infection. Danechka needs continuing help with medications such as Cymevene, Vfend,

is now in St. Petersburg. He is undergoing evaluation prior to bone marrow

rather well and she was allowed to go for walks. As soon as she started
another chemotherapy cycle, her problems with mucous tissue returned.

is undergoing the 3rd chemotherapy cycle at Municipal hospital No.31.
On August 22nd, bone marrow biopsy showed 2.5% of blast cells, and 3.3% of
myeloblasts. Varya is now not feeling very well. She had a reaction
to asparaginase, fever, cries a lot and is very cranky.
She is also developing stomatitis. Varya eats very little.
She was recommended nutrition Nistagen or Nutrilon Junior,
120 g every 3 hours.

digested. Edik needs continuing therapy with albumin. He is improving
in regards to GVHD of liver. Mabthera therapy was put on hold.
Edik was prescribed Cancidas as antifungal therapy.

allowed him to go home to rest for several days.

underwent MRI that showed rapid tumor growth. In the next few days
doctors will consider further treatment options. Kolya is now at
dacha with his family. He does not feel very well due to fever,
difficulty walking and pain.

Masha Bolokhova was hospitalized at hospital No. 31
and underwent a cycle of chemotherapy. She did not tolerate it well: she
had fever and needed blood transfusions and therapy with antibiotics.
As soon as Masha felt better, her mom took her home and
refused further treatment.

had almost a year since the last chemotherapy cycle. Zhenya's platelet
count is still somewhat low and he continues having problems with his legs:
it hurts when he tries to walk, and he needs to have a whole hip joint
prosthesis, or a replacement of the head of the joint. Zhenya enrolled
into Engineering and Economics College in St. Petersburg.

68,868 euros to a clinic in Germany for Inna Shakhmayeva's
therapy. The funds for her treatment are raised.

completed the 6th cycle of chemotherapy with paclitera and carboplatin,
and she feels rather well. Colonoscopy showed that all is clear.
Her treating doctor recommended to check liver as well and referred

with the lesion in his brain. He receives intravenous
Vfend and Meronem. In the next few days he will have a lumbar puncture.

is at the hospital again. He had worsening of infection in his lungs
and he shows signs of GVHD of lungs. He receives appropriate therapy.

Vova Gusev developed pneumonia. He receives
Vfend and antibiotics. In a week he will go for control CT scan.
Based on control puncture, his bone marrow is gradually recovering
with its own cells.

condition improved and she was moved out of intensive care unit. GVHD of her skin
and liver was taken under control. All her blood counts are now normal, although she has
slight intestinal GVHD. She still needs medications to treat infectious complications:
Cymevene, Neocytotect and Vfend.

is continuing to recover after second transplantation. Based on control puncture, her

Bone marrow has fewer cancer cells, and CT and MIBG images look better.

need blood donors B(III) Rh(+) for Rinata Haritonova,
the single parent of Anton, with grade II autism. Please help her recover
and come back to her son! You can donate blood for Rinata at the blood
transfusion unit of City Hospital 31. Unfortunately the hematology unit
of City Hospital 31 is closing on August 5, and Rinata is now in a bad
cytopenia, and yesterday she had a bleeding. If the doctors manage to
stabilize the situation before Friday Rinata will spend the time between
chemotherapy courses at one of the hospices in St. Petersburg, until
the hematology unit reopens. If blood counts don't rise to safe
figures Rinata might be transferred to the therapy unit.
02.08.2011 Follow-up PET for
Levon Karagezyan showed that the tumor has
decreased and the contrast accumulation intensity is now lower too.
The doctors consider it to be a late response to radiation therapy.
A couple of days ago Levon had a fever and was urgently hospitalized.
Ultrasound revealed a focus with fluid in his liver. It turned out to
be a hematoma which appeared because Levon is constantly on anticoagulants.
Therapy has been administered. The hematoma is decreasing in size.
Levon is feeling fine.

has been admitted to the Raisa Gorbacheva Institute of Children's
Hematology and Transplantology. Unfortunately the follow-up puncture
before the transplantation revealed blasts in the bone marrow, but
the doctors decided not to postpone the transplantation. Since Sergei's
aspergillosis is only susceptible to Noxafil he will have to take that
drug all through the transplantation and posttransplantation periods.
At present Noxafil is not available at the clinic. Sergei needs 6 bottles
a month, one bottle costs 40,000 roubles.

had his tracheostoma tube changed again. Unfortunately the granulomas
have started to grow again, so in two weeks Artem is to have a surgery
