Yan Domanovsky is 16 months old. He has a rare disease: Wiskott Aldrich
syndrome. It is a congenital disease that affects only boys. Yan had a
brother that had the same diagnosis. He died when he was 2, before he had a
chance to undergo transplantation. Yan can still be saved. However, we
have very little time.
Yan lives with his grandmother. His mother started drinking heavily after
the death of his brother and she lost her parental rights. Yan's grandmother's
pension is 5,400 rubles. She cannot afford to pay 15,000 euros for the donor
search. Thanks to help of Russian Help fund, she raised 10,000 euros for the
donor search. Therefore, we now need to raise additional 5,000 euros, and 2,500
euros more for the delivery of transplant.
Update as of November 13, 2009.
Yan is monitored at Gorbacheva clinic. He feels rather well, but his
blood counts fluctuate, as well as hemoglobin levels.
Update as of December 9, 2009.
Yan was at Children's hospital No.1 from November 15 to November 25
for treatment of lymphadenitis. We are now at home, and Yan's
condition is relatively good. Once every two weeks we come for
tests to R. Gorbacheva Institute.
Yan started speaking, is very curious about everything and enjoys
helping me with various little tasks. He is a very kind and happy
boy. We are enormously grateful to everyone who responded to
our request for help.
