Yulia died on December 7, 2010

Hello!
My name is Yulia, I am 19. I came from Orenburg. In July 2008 I was diagnosed with acute myeloblastic leukemia complicated by chromosomal abnormality (as was discovered during examination in Yekaterinburg). For six months I have been undergoing chemotherapy (5 cycles) and then achieved remission. Unfortunately, I relapsed a year later.
On February 2, 2010 I started a new course of treatment: two very harsh chemotherapy cycles. I achieved remission again and then I was referred for consultation to R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology Institute in St. Petersburg. Since chromosomal abnormality remains, there is a high risk of a new relapse. At the clinic, I was offered haploidentical bone marrow transplantation. My brother will be my donor.
I will need a long and costly treatment. We will not be able to deal with it by ourselves: after my father's death in 1998, my mom has been bringing me and my brother up alone. We are asking all caring people to help us.

Medical conclusion

Update as of September 29, 2010. It's the fourth week since Yulia underwent transplantation. The blood values have restored to normal, there are no blasts. The tests have shown cytomegalovirus, Yulia takes "Cymeven", there are manifestations of graft-versus-host disease (haemorrhagic cystitis). Yulia is feeling alright, she is allowed to leave the ward and even take short walks.

Update as of October 22, 2010. Yulia was discharged to day hospital. She is for now on immunosuppressive therapy. She feels well, with only slight skin GVHD symptoms. She is in remission in regards to leukemia.

Update as of November 16, 2010. Yulia was hospitalized due to intestinal GVHD. She is receiving hormonal and antibacterial therapy. She does not feel very well due to abdominal pains and fatigue. Yulia still tested positive for aspergilla and CMV titers and needs Vfend and Cymevene therapy. She is in remission in regards to leukemia.
