Vitaly died on November 25, 2010
Hello,
My name is Marina Vorontsova. I am Vitaly Vorontsov's mom.
My son has been sick with acute lymphoblastic leukemia for 8 years.
He first got sick when he was 3, and he is now 11. Vitaly had three
relapses.
Despite serious illness, my son remains a very life-loving
kid. In winter he loves skating and skiing. When he was on
maintenance therapy, Vitalik enjoyed going to school. He was good in
math and was one of the best in physical education.
We have now come to R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology and
Transplantology Institute in St. Petersburg for haploidentical bone
marrow transplantation (when one of the parents is a donor with
partial match).
We are asking for help with tests, apartment rent in
St. Petersburg and cylinders for transplantation (starting at 6,000
euros a piece). We cannot afford these expenses on our own. Thank you
for your help!
Respectfully,
Marina Vorontsova
Update as of June 29, 2010.
Vitalik and I came from Omsk on April 12th. Bone marrow transplantation
was scheduled for May 31, but it was canceled because Vitalik
had the 4th relapse.
He underwent a ocurse of anti-relapse chemotherapy.
On June 22nd he had a puncture, but the results are not known yet.
Vitalik and I have been in St. Petersburg for three months now, and
our financial situation is dire. We will be grateful for any help.
We need to rent an apartment and pay for tests and food.

Update as of July 1, 2010.
Vitalik is now in cytopenia after the first anti-relapse chemnotherapy cycle.
Unfortunately, he came to the clinic with serious complications after the
therapy he received locally: serious cardiomyopathy and issues with his lungs.
For this reason, Vitalik did not tolerate chemotherapy well.
Further treatment is under discussion.
Update as of August 2, 2010.
Vitalik underwent high-dose chemotherapy. On July 26th he had puncture. He
is now in remission and we will be discharged for maintenance therapy in
Omsk. After high-dose chemotherapy Vitalik needs to recover. He now feels well,
but this is not yet sufficient for bone marrow transplantation. We would like
to express our enormous gratitude to Opochitsky family for their help!

Update as of October 6, 2010.
Unfortunately, the bone marrow transplantation is impossibly due the severe
form of cardiomyopathy. Now Vitalik is under hematologists’ observation in Omsk,
he is still in remission.
