Hello!
My name is Victoria Sukhobochenko. I am 44 years old and I am on
a group II disability.
In January 2008 I gave birth to a long awaited daughter Dasha
but by the end of the year I fell sick.
In January 2009 I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and
underwent first cycle of chemotherapy due to vital indications,
at ICU. As we lived in the region where there were no required
treatment facilities available, in March 2009 I was referred to
Petrov Institute of Oncology in St. Petersburg. My family had
to move to Vyborg so I could continue my treatment.
In 2009 I underwent 11 cycles of chemotherapy, including 6 cycles
of intensive high-dose chemotherapy, but unfortunately I only had
a partial response to treatment. Bone marrow transplant could be
one of the possible treatment options, but I don't have a related
donor match. My own bone marrow stem cell volume was not sufficient
to perform autologous transplantation. Until November 2010, I was
undergoing maintenance treatment with Mabthera, but the disease
kept progressing.
I achieved partial response to radiation treatment performed in
December 2010, but examination revealed drastic worsening of my
condition in September 2011.
Hardly any more treatment options are still available. As my last
chance, I was offered to participate in a clinical study of a new
drug. But long-term therapy and numerous relapses have weakened my
immune system and I am always sick with some infectious diseases.
Currently I suffer from pulmonary aspergillosis, which is a fungal
infection of lungs. It should be treated for at least 6 months with
a very expensive drug Vfend that cost 27,000 rubles a package (a weekly
dosage). Therefore, total cost of treatment will be around 650,000 rubles.
My husband works on two jobs, but, unfortunately, we still cannot afford
this amount by ourselves. Moreover, in order to participate in a clinical
study we have to rent a place to live in St. Petersburg.
I have a little daughter who is going to be 4 in January. Dasha is always
waiting for me to come back home.
I will be very grateful to everyone who will respond to my appeal for help.
