Hello,
My name is Lyubov Dementieva. I am a mother of Ivan Novoselov, a patient of
hematology unit at Alexandrovskaya hospital No.17. I am asking for help.
On March 10, 2010 my son was diagnosed with acute leukemia. He started chemotherapy
treatment and needed expensive medications. After one of the chemotherapy
cycles, his condition became more complicated due to development of a fungal
infection and micro-stroke.
Unfortunately, chemotherapy is not all that Vanya needs. He also needs other
drugs. Many times we have to buy them ourselves. I am retired, but I work when I
can.
Now it is more difficult, because Vanya is at the hospital and he constantly
needs help.
I cannot afford to buy expensive drug Vfend (it costs 27,000 rubles a package).
But my son needs it. My son is my hope and support, my ray of light in this
difficult and gray life. I dream of the time when Vanya will have a family and
I will have grandchildren.
I hope there are still caring people left in this world. I pray to God for
help. We are hoping for any help and support with buying Vfend.
We are very thankful to everyone who will be able to help us.
Update as of July 15, 2010.
Vanya feels better. He walks, but slowly and with a walking
stick and my support. He is continuing chemotherapy.
Vanya still takes Vfend medication that we receive at AdVita fund.
We'd like for Vanya to get well soon, but we were told he will
need long-term therapy. Vanya feels optimistic and is hoping for
recovery, even if it will take some time to get there.
We are grateful to everyone who is helping us.

Update as of August 4, 2010.
We are now undergoing the second chemotherapy cycle.
Vanya feels rather well. We are very grateful to everyone who is
donating money for Vfend. At this time, it is the main helper in
my son's treatment!

Update as of September 9, 2010.
On August 27th Vanya started another cycle of chemotherapy. He does not
complain of headaches, although his temperature goes up in the evenings.
We would like to thank everyone who is supporting us.
Lyubov Alexeevna, Vanya's mother
Update as of September 24, 2010.
Vanya's condition is satisfactory, but his spirits are down: he
feels apathetic and does not care for his future. He needed help
from a psychologist. The doctors feel that it is due to effect of
drugs included in chemotherapy protocol. All the test results are good.
We are very grateful to everyone who is helping us.

Update as of November 3, 2010.
A decision was made to refer Vanya for bone marrow transplantation.
A bill will be received shortly.
Update as of March 10, 2011.
Vanya is feeling fine and waiting for the donor to be found.
The AdVita fund has transferred to the Stephen Morsch registry the
advance payment of 2,000 euros allocated from
the donations for all patients.
Update as of May 29, 2011.
Ivan is now on maintenance therapy. CT of the lungs and MRI scan
of the brain show improvement, so Vfend is still needed.
Update as of June 21, 2011.
Vanya's transplantation is planned for July 1.
Update as of July 24, 2011.
Transplantation took place on schedule, and without complications.
For now, donor's bone marrow has not engrafted and Ivan is in
cytopenia. He feels relatively well.
Update as of September 21, 2011.
It's the 70th day since Vanya's bone marrow transplantation.
He feels well and is monitored at the day hospital. Donor's
bone marrow engrafted and is working well. According to CT
scan of lungs and brain MRI study fungal lesions are stable.
Vfend is still required.
