Hello!
My husband Vladimir is 33 years old. In November 2010 he got seriously sick.
The diagnosis is acute myeloid leukemia. Vladimir bravely fought the terrible
illness. He underwent several high-dose chemotherapy cycles, but had not
reached remission. Good people - our relatives, friends, and co-workers - helped
us raise the money to find and activate a donor in the international registry.
On December 15, 2011 transplantation took place at R.M. Gorbacheva Hematology
and Transplantology Institute.
At present, engrafting is occurring. The post-transplantation period has been
very difficult, accompanied by high temperature. Moreover, a fungal infection
was diagnosed, which can ruin the results of transplantation and take my
husband's life.
To defeat the fungal infection he needs a very expensive medication, Vfend,
one bottle of which costs about 26,000 rubles. A bottle lasts only a week,
while the treatment takes 3-6 months or even longer.
We have no money to buy this medication and there is no one to help us, as
during the last year everybody who could had helped us already. We have two
small kids, our twins, who are three years old. I am the only person who works
in the family. Vladimir's mother who is already retired takes care of him.
She temporarily moved from our Chernomorsky settlement in Krasnodar Region
to St. Petersburg.
I am asking all kind-hearted people to help my husband finish his treatment
and get back home to his family and kids. Thank you very much.
