Hello,
I am Vika Dolgova's mom. My daughter is 9. In August 2009 she was diagnosed
with myeloblastic leukemia. Since then she was treated in Krasnodar, but now
the doctors are referring her for bone marrow transplantation. So we came to
St. Petersburg. Nastia, Vika's older sister, will be a donor. I have adopted
both of them three years ago. Their younger brother stayed at home with my
older son who is already 20.
Victoria is a quiet girl. She loves to read and draw. She tolerates all procedures
with amazing patience for such a young child.
We are hoping that the procedure will be successful and we will return home
healthy. Vika will go to school and see her friends.
We now need money for our living expenses and apartment rent in St. Petersburg.
After transplantation, Vika will also need antifungal drugs and antibiotics.
We are very grateful to everyone who will be ready to support us at this difficult
time.
Update as of May 20, 2010.
Vika is now at the rented apartment. She is monitored at R. Gorbacheva
Pediatric Hematology and Transplantology Institute and goes
there for tests. Tomorrow we expect to receive the latest test
results from Helix lab, and then the date for Vika's
pre-transplantation hospitalization will be discussed.
Update as of July 1, 2010.
Transplantation took place on June 9th on schedule. The blood counts
have grown by now and Vika was discharged for out patient monitoring.
She feels well, goes for walks and has a good appetite.
Update as of August 4, 2010.
Vika is still being monitored as an outpatient at the clinic.
She feels well, draws and knits with the volunteers who visit us at
the rented apartment. Of the expensive drugs, she takes Cyclosporine and
Vfend. We are very grateful to everyone who is helping us!
Natasha, Vika's mom
