Hello!
We would like to ask for help. My name is Vyacheslav Chernobilsky. My son Stasik is 9. He suffers from a serious illness, diffuse tumor of brain stem.
At first, we were admitted to Infectious Diseases hospital No.5, but after MRI scan, we were transferred to Pediatric Oncology and Hematology unit of City hospital No.31. We have been there since November 3, 2009. My son already underwent radiation therapy. He now needs to have PET imaging with methionine on his brain. The study was scheduled for February 25.
Stasik does not have a mother. She left us when Stasik was six months old. She took all the money and disappeared. A search warrant was issued for her. I am on a sick leave to care for Stasik and cannot afford the upcoming test that costs 14,000 rubles.
Please help us raise this amount. I will be grateful in advance to everyone who responds.

Update as of February 21, 2010. Yesterday Stas's father received the money raised for PET imaging by the participants of St. Petersburg's Parents forum. On February 25th Stas will go for PET, and on March 1 he and his father will come to the hospital for further treatment.

Update as of March 7, 2010. Based on PET imaging results, Stasik still has areas of tracer intake. Stasik is continuing treatment and had a five-day course of therapy with Temodal. He is now feeling relatively well, but has no appetite at all. Soon Stasik will be discharged home and he will be coming to the hospital for tests.
In 20 days he will start another 5-day course of Temodal. These courses are scheduled to be repeated for 7 months. After three months, second PET imaging is planned, and MRI may be needed as well.

Update as of March 30, 2010. Stasik is at the hospital. He came in for chemotherapy, but the course had to be postponed due to low blood counts. In April he is planned to undergo MRI, which may be paid for under a quota.

Update as of April 3, 2010. Stasik's blood counts recovered and he started chemotherapy. Due to low appetite, Stas was prescribed additional enteral nutrition. In April he is planned to undergo MRI scan.

Update as of May 23, 2010. Stasik is now at Children's hospital No.5 where he was taken urgently when he started feeling unwell. Based on MRI results, he needs to have a shunt installed. Once he is stable, Stasik will be transferred to City hospital No.31 for further treatment. For now he does not feel well: Stasik is fatigued, does not eat well and stays in bed.

Update as of August 11, 2010. Stas had disease progression. He is in a coma.
