Hello!
My son Alexander Trevoga was born in 1988. He has been receiving treatment
for lymphoblastic leukemia since May 2007. In January 2009, Sasha underwent
an operation to transplant bone marrow at Gorbacheva Center. Unfortunately,
since it was Sasha's third relapse, we had no time for the donor search, and
there were no matching donors. I had to become his donor.
As of now, Sasha feels relatively well. However, he needs long-term supporting
therapy. Sasha takes antibiotics, antivirals and antifungal drugs every day. In
addition, to support vitally important blood counts, he is administered
immunostimulating injections (CSF) twice a month. Every such injection costs
over 20,000 rubles.
For the last eight months, we have been living in St. Petersburg, and all this
time I stay with my son at Gorbacheva clinic and cannot work.
We are from a rural community, and all our life savings were spent on our son's
treatment and recovery. And today, lacking any other opportunity to find money,
I am asking, pleading, calling on compassion and kindness of those who are
affected by the suffering of our sick boy needing help.
I am pleading you to help my son and give him a chance to live!
Update as of July 15, 2009.
Sasha received lymphocyte infusions to stimulate GVHD.
He had now developed skin and liver GVHD and he receives
hormonal therapy. Sasha lost a lot of weight.
Update as of August 26, 2009.
Sasha was diagnosed with fungal infection in his lungs, zygomycosis.
He is now receiving therapy with Cancidas and Fungizone, which will
last at least two weeks. As soon as his condition improves, Sasha is
planned to undergo surgery to remove lesions in his lungs.
Update as of October 1, 2009.
Sasha was prescribed Noxafil. Tomorrow he will undergo control CT scan.
If the lesion had shrunk and Noxafil therapy is working, then surgery
will be postponed and therapy with Noxafil will be continued.
Update as of October 13, 2009.
Based on the test results, Sasha had significantly improved. Of all the
antifungals, only Noxafil worked, and now Sasha
needs to continue
therapy with this drug for another three months. A bottle of Noxafil
costs from 64,000 to 80,000 rubles and lasts 6 days. Fundraising for
Sasha is not going well. In regards to his main illness, Sasha is
in remission. He feels rather well and was allowed to go home for two weeks.
Update as of October 21, 2009.
Sasha is being monitored at his place of residence, in Krasnodar.
The doctors are discussing possibility of a surgery to remove a lesion
in his lungs in Krasnodar regional hospital. Sasha is in remission in
regards to his main illness and he feels rather well, but he still
vitally needs Noxafil, a bottle every 6 days, at a cost of 64,000 rubles.
This is the only drug that was effective against zygomycosis.
Our fund has to forward this drug to Krasnodar, as it is not
available at the local pharmacies.
Update as of November 30, 2009.
Sasha is still taking Noxafil and being monitored at his place of
residence. The Noxafil therapy led to serious improvement in his
condition, and the surgery has been postponed for now.
Update as of January 27, 2010.
Sasha arrived for tests. Based on the puncture results, he has 10% of blasts
in his blood. The doctors are discussing further treatment. Thanks to
Noxafil therapy, he has much improvement of zygomycosis, so the surgery
is not considered necessary at this time. Sasha still needs Noxafil, as
one bottle of this drug lasts him 6 days and costs 80,000 rubles.
