Sergei died on April 1, 2010

|
Hello!
My name is Sergei Aleksandrovich Shcheblykin. I live in the city of Voronezh.
I am 37 and have two children: a 10-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter.
I got sick in November 2007, and in December I was diagnosed with acute leukemia.
I have received 4 chemotherapy courses at a local hospital within the period
from December 2007 till April 2008. Due to serious complications I had to discontinue
the treatment. In October 2008 I had to go back to hospital because my disease
started to progress. Another chemotherapy course gave no results. I went to
the Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center in Moscow and was admitted there
in November 2008. I had three chemotherapy courses in the time from November
2008 till May 2009. I was then recommended to go to the Raisa Gorbacheva clinic
in St. Petersburg for a bone marrow transplantation from a non-relative donor.
A donor was found in the European bank.
In June 2009 I came to St Petersburg and was admitted to hospital. Bone marrow
transplantation was performed on July 8, 2009. At present I am staying in hospital
waiting for the bone marrow cells to engraft.
I spent a lot of money during the 18 months I have been sick, and in order
to pay for the transplant I had to sell my apartment. My only income is my
pension, and it is not enough to live on during the lengthy period of recovery
after the transplantation. That is why I have to turn for your help.
I am very grateful to all who will be able to help me.

Update as of August 26, 2009.
Sergei recovered successfully after transplantation and was discharged
for outpatient monitoring. He needs help with paying apartment rent
(6,000 rubles) and buying Mycomax medication.
Update as of September 25, 2009.
Sergei feels relatively well and he is monitored as an outpatient. Since
he never had "graft versus host" disease symptoms, he is
planned to receive lymphocyte infusions to prevent a relapse.
Update as of January 10, 2010.
Sergei is monitored as an outpatient after donor's
lymphocyte infusion. He still needs help with paying
for rented apartment.
Update as of January 18, 2010.
Unfortunately, Sergey had a relapse. Further therapy is under discussion.
Update as of February 3, 2010.
Sergei is being administered treatment with Dasatinib.
Unfortunately the level of blasts in his bone marrow has not
reduced. Sergei's condition remains stable but grave.
Update as of March 14, 2010.
Sergei's condition is worsening. He was transferred under intensive care
doctors' watch.
