Hello,
My only son Stas is seriously sick. Just a year ago there were no
signs of impending disaster. My son studied at the Institute of
Culture, had many interests and was doing well. However, at the end
of August 2009 he started having serious pains in his joints. The
doctors' diagnosis was terrifying: acute lymphoblastic leukemia,
severe type.
We were recommended to undergo unrelated bone marrow transplantation
as soon as possible. The donor search at the international registry
costs 15,000 euros, while delivery of transplant costs additional
2,500 euros. This is the price of the chance to live! My son is an
adult. He is 27. Before getting sick, Stas worked a lot, but despite
all his achievements and successes, we are still unable to raise even
a small portion of the required amount. Please help us! It is so
terrible to see the suffering of your own child and be unable to help.
We are very grateful to everyone who does not leave people like us
without support.
Update as of May 20, 2010.
Stas developed serious complications after previous chemotherapy:
his blood counts dropped and he got nosebleeds. All the mucous
tissues were seriously affected: he got sores that did not heal
for a long time due to low leukocyte count.
Stas had now recovered and underwent the 4th cycle of chemotherapy.
On May 18th he was discharged home for recovery.
He does not feel very well.
According to the protocol, Stas needs to complete five cycles of
chemotherapy followed by bone marrow transplantation.
Update as of June 7, 2010.
In two weeks Stas will be hospitalized to continue chemotherapy.
Due to difficulties with applying for disability, Stas was forced
to stop therapy with Purinethol. Thanks to Irina Remidovskaya from
Lipetsk who graciously provided Stas with the drug, and efforts
of Nadezhda Vassilievna Schetkina who picked up the medication
in Moscow and forwarded it to St. Petersburg, Stas can
continue his treatment.
Update as of July 28, 2010.
Stas is at the hospital. He is undergoing the final cycle of chemotherapy.
He feels unwell and suffers from mucositis. After chemotherapy he will
be on maintenance therapy until October when transplantation is scheduled.

Update as of August 14, 2010.
Stas is undergoing treatment at transplantation unit due to a complication (sepsis).
He receives therapy with antibiotics. With all that, he feels rather well,
has a good appetite and sees his friends.

Update as of October 25, 2010.
Transplantation is scheduled for November 19th. Stas still
owes the registry 7,500 euros.
Update as of November 10, 2010.
Due to issues with the donor, transplantation was moved to December 9th.
Update as of January 18, 2012.
Unfortunately, planned tests discovered a relapse. Stas will be hospitalized
at City Hospital No.1 for anti-relapse chemotherapy with Sprycel and several
medications that will be administered intrathecally due to signs of CNS involvement.
Depending on response, possibility of transplantation will be considered. Unfortunately,
there are no fully matching donors at the international registry.
Update as of January 26, 2012.
Unfortunately, the hospital is currently out of Sprycel, and applying for
a federal quota can take several months. Medication will have to be
purchased privately during that time. A pack of the medication that
lasts a month costs 200,000 rubles. We are restarting fundraising for Stas.
