my name is Svetlana. In 1998 I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia
(blood cancer). A hematologist told me that my disease was incurable and fatal.
I left her office and could not stop crying. My first thought was about my kids:
what will happen to them, they are still so young! At the time, my sons were 5
and 7 years old. But time was passing by and my disease was responding to treatment.
In 2006 I had a relapse and underwent high dose chemotherapy. That time, the doctor
said: "You only have 3% chance, and only thanks to the new drug. If not for it,
no one would continue treating you." I was hospitalized for 6 months, and again,
thanks to my stubbornness and thoughts of my children, I had survived.
In 2011 there was another hit: the second relapse. Fortunately, medicine is advancing.
There is a new drug that took disease under control. But the effect will not last long.
To survive, I need bone marrow transplantation. I have no related donors, and therefore,
I need to find a donor at the international registry. It costs 15,000 euros. I do not
have this much money and need your help.

Svetlana's transplantation was rescheduled for May 5 because of the
donor's disease. Svetlana feels well now, she is preparing herself
for hospitalization.
