Hello,
My name is Nelli Alexeevna Didukh. I would like to ask all the kind and caring
people for help for my son Sergei.
In 2001 my son received a terrifying diagnosis: bone Ewing's sarcoma of lower
third of right hip bone. He was treated in Russian Children's Clinical hospital
in Moscow, at Oncology Unit.
In 2002 the treatment was completed. Sergei had plastic surgery. For eight years,
Sergei's leg function was in recovery. He underwent 15 surgeries, heart surgery,
and installation of endoprosthesis. It seemed the terrible disease was forgotten.
Behind us were the suffering from chemotherapy, multiple operations, anesthesia,
and Elizarov's device. But bad fortune had a gift for Sergei on his 18th birthday:
a metastasis in his left shoulder bone. All Sergei's dreams collapsed. He had
to postpone college plans, and forget about his favorite hobby, playing a guitar.
He started treatment again: this time at Petrov Oncology Research Center in
St. Petersburg.
Since July 2009 the doctors have been fighting for Sergei's life, but the tumor is
not retreating. On May 27, 2010 Sergei's arm was amputated. And now Sergei needs
prosthesis to make it easier for him to go about his life. It costs 18,000 euros.
We live in a small northern settlement and we have no one to support us. I am a
single mother. Sergei's father has been absent from his life for 14 years now.
I cannot keep a permanent job due to our constant trips for treatment. My son
and I are asking for your attention and support.
Respectfully,
Nelli Alekseevna Didukh
Update as of August 18, 2010.
Sergei came back from Moscow on August 17 to continue with the treatment.
He is in for and autotransplantation.
