Hello, my name is Natalia Chizhikova. My son Pavel is 8 years old. We came from Temryuk, a town in Krasnodar region, to St. Petersburg for treatment. When my son started having pains in his right hip, we went to Krasnodar Regional Children's Clinical hospital for tests. There Pavel was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma of right iliac bone, T3, NOM1, stage IV with lung metastases. Pasha received four cycles of chemotherapy and then we were referred to R. Gorbacheva Institute of Pediatric Hematology and Transplantology in St. Petersburg.
At the Institute Pavel is planned to undergo autologous bone marrow transplant. Then he will have a lengthy recovery period. We will have to stay in St. Petersburg after the transplantation, because for several months post-transplant Pasha will need to be under the doctors' watch. We know no one in this city and have no relatives nearby. And we have no money left to rent an apartment and buy medications that Pasha will need after the transplant (such as Mileran and Alkeran).
We will be grateful for any help!

Update as of August 4, 2010. Pasha completed two cycles of chemotherapy at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology Institute. He then had radiation at Petrov Oncology Research Institute. Next week he will be admitted to R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology Institute for autologous bone marrow transplantation. Test prior to radiation therapy showed very good response. Pasha feels well.

Update as of September 6, 2010. Transplantation took place on August 17th. Pasha is now at the clinic and his blood counts are low, but they are starting to increase. His temperature is normal and he feels rather well.

Update as of October 6, 2010. Pasha is recovering very slowly after autologous transplantation. His blood counts are growing slowly. In the next few days he will undergo control tests.

Update as of November 16, 2010. Pasha is in remission based on tests. The doctors are letting him go home to Krasnodarsky krai where he will continue maintenance therapy with Roncoleukin. We are very grateful to everyone who supported Pasha during his treatment in St. Petersburg!
