Dear friends,
We are the parents of Oksana Koknaeva. Our daughter is 20 years old –
a fun-loving cheerful young girl, she loves drawing and dancing. Oksana
dreams of becoming a lawyer. She finished school with good grades and
entered an institute. But in August 2010 something unexpected happened:
Oksana had a high fever, and blood counts revealed s terrible
disease - acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Then there were some serious trials for our family: for two months Oksana
couldn't leave the hospital, and within a year's time she had several
severe chemotherapy courses that gave lots of complications. Her mother
had to quit work to be able to care for her. Then there was another blow:
in the course of a blood transfusion Oksana got a hepatitis C virus, so
now she has to get treatment for her liver problems.
Her only chance to recover is a bone marrow transplantation. We live in
the town of Elgels in the Saratov region. The Raisa Gorbacheva Institute
of Children's Hematology and Transplantology in St. Petersburn is ready
to admit Oksana and perform the surgery, but there is no donor. Her brother
cannot be her donor, so we have to find a non-relative one. For that we
have to pay 15,000 euros to the International registry plus 2,500 euros
for transplant delivery. Our family doesn't have such funds. We decided
to cell our house, but even that money won't be enough. We do need your
financial support.
PLEASE HELP US SAVE OUR DAUGHTER!
Thank you very much in advance,
Oksana's parents

Oksana had a bone marrow transplantation on February 24. Everything went
as planned; the girl has already recovered after transplantation. She remains
under the doctor's care at the day patient facility. Oksana has no signs of GVHD.
Confirmatory CT revealed foci in her lungs, their origin is being tested.
