Hello,
My name is Oksana. I am 39 years old. I am a life-long resident of
St. Petersburg. I am a single mother of a young daughter. Please
help me: I need therapy with expensive drug Vfend (it costs 30,000
rubles a package) for 2-3 months.
I have been sick with leukemia since September 2008. I was treated ay
Filatov Hematology and Transfusiology Research Institute. In
September 2009 I had autologous bone marrow transplant. But in
January 2010 I was diagnosed with a relapse of my disease. I was
prescribed tow cycles of high-dosage chemotherapy. At the end of the
second cycle, on April 20, 2010, I was found to have invasive
aspergillosis in lungs.
I was examined at Kashkin Mycology Research Institute. In parallel,
in March 2010, a search for the donor in the international registry
was initiated. As of now, a donor is found, and transplantation is
scheduled for June 30, 2010 at Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology and
Transplantology Institute.
I now have high temperature (up to 38C) and cough. Unfortunately, I
cannot afford to buy this important drug. Without it, my life will be
under threat, especially in the post-transplant period. And I want so
much to beat my disease and take care of my grandkids in the future!
Please help me!
Update as of June 6, 2010.
Transplantation is scheduled for June 30.
Update as of July 8, 2010.
After bone marrow transplantation, my mom had serious complications
and internal bleeding. Every day, from morning to night, my father
and I sit by my mom. We care for her and support her emotionally.
My mom is now much better. I know that she will recover fully,
it can't be any other way.

Update as of July 15, 2010.
A few days ago, my mom started running a fever. The doctors are
telling us that it is a normal reaction and it was expected.
But it does not really make things easier for us, because mom
is not feeling well. She is in bed around the clock.
Our whole family is cannot wait for her to get well.

Update as of August 2, 2010.
Recently my mom developed hepatitis. She constantly has high blood pressure
that does not respond to therapy. She is also bothered by serious swelling
that is also not helped with medications. The doctors told us that protein
balance has to recover and then the swelling will go down. We have some good
news too: recently my mom was allowed to eat and walk a little
to work on her leg muscles. She can only walk in the evenings, for
no longer than an hour.

Update as of September 8, 2010.
I have been at home for a month. I got for control blood tests once a week. My blood
counts are low still and at times I get fever, but the swelling is almost gone. I take Tacrolimus,
Vfend, Valcyte and other drugs.
Respectfully, Oksana
Update as of October 25, 2010.
Hello! It has been 100 days since transplantation. My blood counts are normal.
I am still at home and do not work yet, as I still have fatigue and skin GVHD.
I still need your help and I am very grateful to everyone who is supporting me!
