Hello!
My name is Olga. I am 10 years old, and I will start 4th grade in fall.
My hobbies are drawing, flower decoration, origami and cross-stitching.
On June 20th I started feeling unwell and got a nosebleed. Even
ambulance doctors, whom we called every day, could not stop it.
Finally, I ended up at intensive care unit of Children's hospital
No.1 where I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Then I started developing complications: my kidneys quit working and
I was put on an artificial kidney. At the intensive care unit they
have very good equipment and caring doctors who gave me new life.
From ICU I was transferred to a room in a unit.
My condition has improved now, but to all my problems, I developed
diabetes and I now need a glucometer and test strips to
measure sugar in my blood.
I am being brought up by my grandmother. Our financial means are
very modest, as my grandmother left her job to stay with me.
We really need your help with buying medications.
I will be very grateful to everyone who responds!

search and delivery of transplant for Olya. Therefore, as of now,
the fundraising for the donor search and delivery of transplant
is over, but Olya still needs Noxafil that costs 80,000 rubles
per bottle. Each bottle lasts her a week.
Update as of January 28, 2010.
Olya started a scheduled cycle of maintenance therapy.
On January 27th she had a lumbar puncture and bone marrow
puncture. Due to Dexamethasone therapy, her blood sugar
rose and she was assigned a sugar-restrictive diet.
Olya's favorite foods are not disallowed and she
is very sad.

happy if someone could give her the instrument.

She still has fungal infection in her lungs, and CT scan even showed
some worsening. Olya's tissue was collected for testing. A different
infection may be involved as well. Olya needs to continue Noxafil
therapy: 1 bottle lasts her 5 days.
The search for the bone marrow donor is ongoing.
Update as of April 15, 2010.
Olya is recovering after another chemotherapy course. She had
serious complications – kidney bleeding – which the doctors managed
to overcome. Fortunately the last lung tomography and blood counts
allowed the doctors to cancel antifungal drugs, and Olya does not
need Noxafil any longer. Many thanks to all who are helping Olya,
all volunteers, blood donors and supporters!

vacation. So she spends a lot of time making up fairy tales.
Olya really wants to go out and visit Krestovsky isle, but they cannot
afford taxi and she is now allowed to use public transport yet. Olya
got a guitar as a gift. She now wants to learn to play it. But for
now, they have not found a guitar teacher.
Olya and her grandmother will be very happy if someone could give
Olya guitar lessons in their home. They have a second instrument for
the tutor. Before she got sick, Olya really wanted to go to music school.
Her teachers were noting her perfect pitch and strong vocal ability.
