Hello!
I am Nastia Pogrebnaya's mom. I would like to ask everyone who can to help my daughter. She is a smart and beautiful girl. In her 19 years, she brought much joy to our home, friends and family. Nastia achieved much in her life already: she graduated from high school #106 in Rostov-on-Don with many awards and diplomas from participation in Academic Olympics and conferences. She was a top student in her class and in 2009 she successfully passed college entrance tests.
Nastia was accepted by two colleges and chose Foreign Languages department of Teacher's College at Federal Southern University. She enjoyed learning and was getting close t her dream - becoming a good teacher. But a terrible diagnosis - acute myelomonoblastic leukemia - broke her dreams and disrupted her studies during the 2nd year of college, in February 2011.
Nastia began a life at the hospitals – with tests, prognoses and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, her situation is still difficult. But after four months of treatment, we are still hoping for remission and that Nastia will be saved by bone marrow transplantation. And we hope for help of others with paying the bill for the bone marrow donor search.
The search for an unrelated donor was started already, but the required payment is huge - 15,000 euros! Please help us! Dear friends, help me save my daughter's life!

Update as of July 18, 2011. An effective therapy was finally found for Nastia. She is responding to ICE protocol so as soon as she recovers after chemotherapy, she will have another cycle to improve results. A donor search was started. Nastia feels rather well and today she was allowed to go for a walk.

Update as of July 31, 2011. Nastia is monitored as an outpatient. As soon as she recovers fully she will undergo one more cycle of chemotherapy to strengthen remission.

Update as of September 11, 2011. After the second ICE course Nastia has been discharged on August 28. She has spent a week at the rented apartment. On Monday another chemotherapy course begins – this time chemotherapy will be low dose so it will be administered at the day care facility. Nastia is in remission and feeling ok. The donor has not been found yet.

Update as of September 22, 2011. A donor for Nastia was found and transplantation was scheduled for October. The bill for donor search was paid for, but money for delivery of transplant needs to be raised.

Update as of November 12, 2011. Nastia's transplantation is scheduled for December 2nd.

Update as of December 30, 2011. Nastia recovered after transplantation and is now in cytopenia. She receives daily blood transfusions. She has no fever, but developed severe mucositis and was transferred in IV nutrition.

Update as of January 12, 2012. Nastia is still at the hospital. Based on control puncture, bone marrow engrafted, but she developed serious complications, such as veno-occlusive liver disease and intestinal paralysis. She receives appropriate therapy.
