My son Kolya was born on May 31, 1994. We live in a small town Hapo-oe in
Vsevolzhsky district of Leningradskaya oblast.
In March 2006 he got sick with epilepsy. Since June 2007, Kolya's condition
worsened. He now has seizures up to 4 times a day. In June, Kolya had a
tomogram that cost 20,000 rubles. I sold everything I had to pay for this expensive
test.
Kolya now needs another test, which I cannot afford. I had to leave my job to be
with my son and help him during the seizures. Due to lack of money for
the medications, Kolya cannot go to school (specialized school No. 22 in Nevsky district
of St. Petersburg).
I would like to ask everyone for help with buying medication for Kolya.
He now needs the following medications:
- Topamax (50 mg), 3 packages a month. Each package costs 1,000 rubles. Or
the same drug in 100 mg dosage, 1.5 - 2 packages a month (2,200 rubles a package).
- Rispolept, 2 bottles a month (1,200 rubles a bottle).
I will be very grateful to everyone who will find the opportunity to help my son.

Update as of January 17, 2008.
Kolya and I need to visit medical and labor expert commission. Due to holidays and
Kolya's doctor illness, it has been rescheduled several times.
Kolya had a Doppler examination and encephalogram. The encephalogram results showed
that Kolya has not improved and the Topamax dosage was increased. We now need 9
packages of this drug a month, at a cost of 890 rubles a piece. We have not been
able to get this medication for free, even though we are
eligible for this benefit.
In the next few days we also need MRI scan that costs 2,800 rubles. We will be very
grateful for any help.
Kolya's mom

Kolya's mom
Update as of December 23, 2008.
Kolya underwent testing at Bekhterev Institute. Unfortunately, the encephalogram
showed that his condition worsened, and MRI scan discovered numerous
affected areas.
Kolya's treatment protocol was changed completely. In particular, Kolya was taken
off Topamax and put on Benzonal and Depakine. His mom noticed immediate improvement.
Kolya's next checkup is scheduled for spring 2009.
Update as of June 25, 2009.
Kolya is still taking Depakine and Benzonal. The results are better than
with Topamax therapy, but unfortunately, Kolya still suffers from seizures,
even if less frequently than before.
Kolya will soon need to undergo MRI, for which we have to pay.
Our family's financial situation is still very difficult.
We will be grateful for any help.
