Dear friends,
My daughter Nastia is now 11 years old, we live in the town of Tambov.
In 2007 Nastia went to school. She loved to study and did very well at school.
Unfortunately that year became tragic for us. It all began with an accident.
We were doing some repair works in our flat and took off our entrance door,
which fell and hit Nastia. That left a lump on her head, and with time it
did not disappear but became bigger. The trauma caused a malignant tumor.
In May 2008 Nastia had a surgery and was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma,
with the right parietal region affected. My daughter was administered five
chemotherapy courses at the N. N. Petrov Oncology Research Institute
in St. Petersburg.
Remission lasted for three years. In August 2011 the blood counts began
to fall. Nastia was admitted to the Tambov Regional Children's hospital
and diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
In October we came to St. Petersburg for a treatment course at the Raisa
Gorbacheva Institute of Children's Hematology and Transplantology, where
Nastia is now administered the sixth chemotherapy course. However, the only
radical method to overcome my daughter's disease is a bone marrow transplantation.
Nastia has a sister who can be her donor. But unfortunately only in theory: my
younger daughter is 4 years old, she is tiny and skinny, so it is impossible to
collect the necessary amount of stem cells for the transplantation without damage
to her health. But Nastia needs the transplantation urgently.
Our only hope is to find a 100% compatible donor in the International Bone
Marrow Donor Registry. But for Russian citizens that costs 15,000 euros.
Plus we will need another 2,500 euros for the delivery of the transplant
to St. Petersburg. After the transplantation Nastia will need expensive drugs.
Our family's financial resources are limited. I cannot work now because I have to
be with Nastia all the time. We have to rent a flat in St. Petersburg. My younger
daughter is staying with her grandmother in the town of Michurinsk, and my husband
joined us in St. Petersburg. His income is barely enough to pay the rent.
Please help us raise the money for Nastia's treatment. The life of a little girl
depends of your kindness and readiness to help.
Update as of January 25, 2012.
Many thanks to the Rossiyskiy Fond Pomoschi
fund for agreeing to raise the funds for Nastia: they are ready to raise 10,000 euros
to initiate the donor search. That means we have to raise the
remaining 5,000 euros for the donor search plus 2,500 euros for the
transplant delivery.
Update as of March 23, 2012.
Nastia finished the 7th cycle of high-dose chemotherapy and
began maintenance regimen. A donor was not found yet, unfortunately.
Nastia's dad needs to find a job. He is experienced with
building renovation.
Update as of April 10, 2012.
Nastia is being followed as a day patient and she feels well.
Based on control puncture, she is in remission. She receives
chemotherapy under maintenance regimen (methotrexate and purinethol).
