Other Nastia's photos

Hello
My name is Nastia, I am 17. I was born in Urals, in a beautiful ancient village Bagariak. I finished the 10th grade with honors, but in summer 2007 I got sick. I was admitted to Chelyabinsk regional hematology hospital and was tested. The next day the doctor came in and told me: "Nastia, you have cancer of blood".
The first chemotherapy course did not help me. I was given a choice: either go home and live what I have left with painkillers or risk and sign up for more aggressive chemotherapy. The unit head warned me that the complications from the therapy could kill me before I reach the middle of the course. However, I took the risk and survived. My parents sold their cottage, car and everything they could during my illness, and they bought a small house near Chelyabinsk to be close to the hospital. After that chemotherapy course I had a few more courses that were just as harsh. In between the courses, I studied at the 11th grade level, took exit tests and enrolled to study Economics and Entrepreneurship at the South Urals State University.
I have now come to St. Petersburg with my mother for bone marrow transplantation. The money that our family had has been spent, and we will still need to buy many medications. My mother and I are asking for help!
Any help will be priceless for us!

Update as of March 14, 2010. In the next few days Nastia will be preparing for the surgery. The hospitalization at Mariinsky hospital is scheduled for the next week, and the surgery itself - for March 24. Nastia will be operated on by Professor Neverov, the head of Orthopedics faculty at Vreden Research Institute.

Update as of March 25, 2010. Since Nastia is in a difficult condition to operate (due to aspergillosis and low blood counts) it was decided that Professor Neverov will operate her at State Medical University rather than Mariinskaya hospital, with a team of intensive care specialists and anesthesiologists, and in coordination with hematologists and pulmonologists. The surgery was rescheduled again.
