Hello!
My name is Marina Alyushina. I am 39. I am a doctor specializing in infectious diseases.
In June 2009 I was diagnosed with acute myeloblastic leukemia. I was treated at Russian
Medical Sciences Academy in Moscow. I was administered high-dose chemotherapy. In
February 2010 I was discharged. For a year, all was well. However, in mid-January 2011 I
started feeling unwell. During an examination at Russian Medical Sciences Academy I was
diagnosed with a secondary myelodysplastic syndrome, refractory anemia with excess
blasts - 1 with deletion of chromosome 7.
The doctors agreed that I need to undergo bone marrow transplantation. I have a sister,
but she did not match as a donor. So my only remaining chance is an unrelated bone
marrow transplant. The search for the donor at the international registry costs 15,000 euros
and delivery of transplant costs additional 2,500 euros.
We managed to raise 5,000 euros for the first installment to start the search, but we
do not have any more money.
I have been helping people fight diseases for over 10 years, and now I need help myself.
I have two children: a 16-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. My husband is always
at the hospital with me.
Please help me!
Update as of April 1, 2011.
Hello! Today I was told that a donor was found and transplantation is
scheduled for the end of May. We were unable to raise 10,000 euros
to pay off the debt to the registry and 2,500 euros for delivery of transplant,
however hard we tried. I have been ill for the last two years. During that period,
we exhausted our financial resources. We already spent a lot of money onmy treatment.
The terrifying thing is that transplant cannot be postponed, as the blast content in my
blood is close to the upper limit and the doctors are concerned that relapse can occur
at any moment. Please help me! I really want to live.
Respectfully, Marina
Update as of May 29, 2011.
Transplantation was performed on May 21. The doctors say that
everything is going as planned. Marina is in cytopenia and needs
blood donors (0(I) Rh-). And she still
needs Vfend too.
Thank you all very much for your support!

Update as of July 5, 2011.
It has been six weeks since transplant. I feel OK, and GVHD is
under control. I regularly go for tests. I still need Vfend.
Every day my family and I are thanking others for their
help and support. God bless you.

Update as of August 10, 2011.
Marina was diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and
she has a strong cough. Marina is undergoing therapy at
pulmonologist and receives inhalations. She is in remission in
regards to the primary diagnosis.
Update as of October 12, 2011.
Dear friends, I'm feeling fine. I had some medical tests done today
and talked to my doctor about further plans.
Tomorrow I am seeing a pulmonologist, October 24 is a follow-up
puncture and lung CT is scheduled for end of October. If everything
is fine the doctor will let me go home until January. I will
still have to take Vfend until May 2012. This decision was made
because I am resistant to other anti-fungal drugs (Diflucan, Orungal).
In Moscow I even had a fungal sepsis when I was on those drugs.
I kindly ask you to help me buy Vfend in the future too!
Thank you very much for your support!

Update as of November 12, 2011.
I would like to share my good news: the doctors let me go home! I
feel well and have no serious issues. In the last labs my liver
counts were high, but after therapy with Heptral they started going down.
Vfend therapy will have to continue until May 2012. I will need to
come to St. Petersburg for planned tests in January. My family is
very happy that I returned, especially my children! It is impossible
to describe it in words.
Thank you so much from me and my loved ones for helping me!
Marina
Update as of February 6, 2012.
On January 23rd I came to St. Petersburg for planned tests. All is well.
Unfortunately, Vfend is not canceled yet. I will need to continue taking
it until May. I am also still taking Biseptol, Zovirax, Heptral,
phenoxymethylpenicillin and Ultop. I am very grateful to all my supporters!

Update as of February 19, 2012.
Hello! I am doing well and staying at home. At the end of January I was
in St. Petersburg for tests. All the results are normal. I am continuing
to take medications, including Vfend. I am mostly at home, so that I don't
pick up an infection.
The next round of tests will be at the end of April when a decision
regarding cancellation of therapy will be made. I cannot wait.
I would like to send my best wishes to all the fund's volunteers and
everyone who is helping me and others in need. I would like to wish good
health, happiness and good luck in your deeds and love, to men and women.
Happy February 23rd and March 8th!
I am in particular grateful to Albert for his help. Thank you everyone!
