Hello!
My daughter Liza is 8 months old. We are now staying at Children's City hospital No.1. Lisa has congenital leukemia. Since March 19, 2009 we have been on treatment. Ahead of us are at least 8-10 months of therapy. I have two other children aged 4 and 13. I cannot work because I stay with Liza at the hospital. My other children are looked after by their retired grandmother. In our family, my husband is the only one who works, and he earns 15,000 rubles, which we have to distribute to the needs of all our kids.
We will now need various expensive medications, plus we have to pay for tests, diapers, disposable blankets, food and so on. We lack money for almost anything. Please support us financially.
We are grateful to everyone who responds to us!

Update as of June 3, 2009. Lisa finished the first chemotherapy block, but developed severe stomatitis. She really needs financial support, as her family of three adults and three children now exists only on her father's salary and grandmother's pension.

Update as of June 17, 2009. We have been at the hospital for two months now. The treatment is proceeding well and Liza is tolerating all the medications. Her test results are good. Thank you very much for your financial and emotional support! Your help is very needed!

Update as of October 2, 2009. Lisa has been on treatment for 8 months now, and she has two more months to go. Everything is going more or less as planned. The next chemotherapy round was postponed due to a cold. Lisa received antibiotics and tomorrow will continue chemotherapy. She feels relatively well.

Update as of January 28, 2010. Lisa was discharged for maintenance therapy. Once a week, on Tuesdays, she and her mom go to Children's hospital No.1 for tests and medication injections.
Her family needs help of a volunteer with driving them to the hospital, or financial support with paying for taxis (Lisa needs to be taken from Sredneokhtinsky prospect to Avangardnaya, 14 by 9 am every Tuesday and taken back home after the medication injection).

Update as of January 29, 2010. Lisa Leushina's transportation issue was solved! We would like to thank Anna and Mikhail for their help!

Update as of February 17, 2010. Maintenance therapy is proceeding on schedule. Once a week, Lisa comes for tests at Children's hospital No.1. Lisa's mom applied for social taxi, and their round trip to the hospital costs 200 rubles.
The first re-induction was scheduled for February 24th. The family is in a financial difficulty. They only have one income earner, and their middle son Vanechka (he is 4) has dental problems. All of his top teeth were taken out due to continuing inflammation and cavities. He now needs artificial teeth installation that costs 5,000 rubles. Due to these unexpected expenses, the family has problems with affording even food.

Update as of March 9, 2010. The re-induction was not started due to low counts of protective blood cells. In addition, Lisa has some neurological problems - hydrocephaly and tics. Lisa was allowed to stay at home for the holidays and on March 10th she will return to the hospital where she will be examined by a neurologist.
Lisa's family is now in serious financial difficulties. They have no money for living expenses, other than 1,000 rubles out of Lisa's grandmother's pension, until March 20th when next pension payment will come. Of this amount, 100 rubles will be spent on a taxi to take Lisa to the hospital. Her father earns 6,000 rubles a month. He is looking for a job, but has not been able to find anything yet.
He was trained as an electrician and painter / finisher and can do various repair work. He will be very grateful for help with finding a job.

Update as of June 17, 2010. Our Lisa is already 22 months old. On May 24, 2010 she was supposed to start the second re-induction cycle, but on May 21 she was taken to the hospital by ambulance due to seizures and fever. Lisa spent four days in intensive care unit. Then she was transferred to the unit, but her temperature kept rising despite good blood test results.
A week later Lisa was discharged and we returned home. We are now back, as Lisa needs to have a puncture. However, Lisa's temperature rose again and puncture was postponed.
Once again I'd like to thank everyone for their help and support! It so happened that strangers understand our problems better than our relatives. Thank you so much!

Update as of November 3, 2010. Since last Wednesday, Lisa has been at Children's hospital. Due to her feeling unwell, she was hospitalized earlier than planned. By now she already started another re-induction. However, due to neurologic issues, she is behind protocol and instead of the 5th cycle, she is undergoing just 4th. Lisa does not tolerate injections of chemotherapy and punctures, and now she reacts event to Methotrexate injections. She became very irritable and cries often. She is planned to have a consultation with a neurologist.

Update as of February 8, 2011. Lisa is at home with her mom and dad. She takes maintenance chemotherapy medications. She loves playing with big trucks and with Legos. She feels well, although she does not eat well and walks shakily. Her blood counts are normal. In March she is planned for the next hospitalization.

Update as of March 28, 2011. Liza was admitted to Children's Hospital No. 1 with convulsions during a cold. She is getting antibiotics and anticonvulsants. For the time being, she will be under medical observation.
Liza's mother thanks Alena and Irina from the St. Petersburg Parents Internet forum for bringing new clothes for Liza, because the girl grows fast.

Update as of April 12, 2011. Lisa completed maintenance therapy. The treatment is over! However, she suffers from neurologic issue and developmental delays. She is going to be 3 in June, but Lisa does not walk or talk yet.
Test results showed brain issues and delay with skeletal development. She is now at home and is planned to see a neurologist.
