Hello!
I need your help! My name is Ludmila Georgievna, I am 53 years old. I am a resident of St. Petersburg and live together with my daughter Margarita, who is a nurse at trauma unit.
Before I got my disability status that does not allow me to hold a job, I worked as a manager, and my total work experience is 29 years. In spring of 2009 I suddenly began feeling unwell. I started experiencing dizziness and severe fatigue. During examination at Pavlov State Medical University I was diagnosed with MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome), which is a bone marrow disease.
The only way for me to get well is to receive bone marrow stem cells from a donor. I have a sister and she was typed. We hoped that we would be a good match, but unfortunately this is not so. We now need to urgently find an unrelated donor.
There are potential donors at the international donor registry in Germany (96 people). This is a good number, but we have no money for the transplant. We need to pay 15,000 euros for the donor's bone marrow and 2,500 euros for delivery of transplant. The selection of the donor will start only after the registry receives at least 3,000 euros.
Unfortunately, we don't even have this much money. I am now undergoing treatment at R. Gorbacheva Hematology and Transplantology Institute. I was prescribed a course of maintenance therapy. The sooner I receive a transplant of stem cells, the better are my chances for the good outcome.
Please help me! Thank you in advance for responding to my request. I am wishing everyone stay healthy and well.
