Hello!
My name is Svetlana. In mid-September 2010, the doctors
diagnosed my husband Konstantin with acute leukemia.
It all started like an ordinary cold, he had high temperature,
pains, and weakness. Konstantin visited a doctor and as soon
as the results of the blood test were received, he was urgently
taken to the hospital.
When my husband was hospitalized and the first chemotherapy cycle
was started, we hoped that it would help and he would recover.
But at the end, Konstantin underwent four harsh chemotherapy cycles.
He could hardly tolerate them as there were significant complications;
it was very difficult, but we won.
As the studies showed the cause of the disease was a chromosomal
abnormality, moreover, first there was a problem with one chromosome
only, and later one more translocation was found. Chemotherapy helped
postpone the development of the disease but could not cure Konstantin.
To fully recover, my husband needs bone marrow transplantation. None of
his relatives matched as a donor.
We spent all our savings to pay for the treatment, and our friends and
relatives helped us. But now we need to find 15,000 euros to search for
the donor in the International registry and 2,500 euros more to deliver
the transplant. We cannot find this much money, you are our last hope!
I cannot raise the necessary amount. To earn more, I changed my job and
now work in the night shift, but I still do not earn even 20,000 rubles.
Konstantin has always been the pillar of our home and now he is so
severely ill... Please help us!
Update as of July 17, 2011.
I completed another chemotherapy cycle. The next one will start on July 30th.
I feel rather well and am in remission. On July 18th I will start tests
at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology and Transplantation Institute.

Update as of July 31, 2011.
Konstantin had planned tests at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric
Hematology & Transplantation Institute. His remission was
confirmed and he feels well. He will soon start maintenance therapy
at Alexandrovsky hospital.
Update as of September 11, 2011.
A donor for Konstantin has been found, transplantation is scheduled for October 28.
We urgently need to pay the debt to the registry and raise 2,500 euros for transplant
delivery.
Update as of December 12, 2011.
Konstantin recovered after transplantation and was discharged for day hospital.
He is in a satisfactory condition, although he is fatigued and has mild skin GVHD.
He was prescribed Vfend to fight infectious complications after high-dose
chemotherapy.
Update as of December 25, 2011.
I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who came to my help at
the difficult time: personnel of Gorbacheva Center for their professional
work and AdVita fund in particular!
I feel relatively well, although I am now on high-dose hormonal therapy and
my blood sugar is high. I get insulin, but have general fatigue and weakness.
I still need Vfend and Cellsept. Once again, thank you very much for your help!
Konstantin
Update as of January 29, 2012.
A week ago, Konstantin was hospitalized by ambulance to Djanelidze Emergency
Research Institute due to intestinal bleeding. On Friday he was transferred to
R. Gorbacheva Institute. His blood counts are critically low. He is receiving
intensive therapy. The reason for the bleeding is not yet determined. On Monday,
puncture results should be ready.
Update as of April 19, 2012.
It is not a bit over five months after the transplantation. Unfortunately puncture
results show that signs of minimal residual disease are increasing and the platelet
count is dropping, that is why immunosuppressive therapy has been canceled. Now that
hormones are canceled Konstantin is feeling better: he can walk better and the blood
sugar level is now normal. Vfend is still needed.
