Hello!
My son, Kostya Makoveev, was born in 2002. He got sick in November 2008 and
was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. On November 27, 2008 he was
hospitalized at R. Gorbacheva Hematology and Transplantology clinic where
he is currently receiving treatment.
Due to development of a catheter-induced infection, on January 11, 2009,
Kostya's subclavicular catheter was removed. The therapy to fight the infection
continued through the peripheral veins. However, due to chemotherapy, Kostya's
peripheral veins became very fragile. They could not sustain the pressure and
either broke or got infected and developed phlebitis. The nurses moved peripheral
catheter six times in two weeks, and now Kostya ran out of veins that could
handle the catheters.
Kostya needs long-term therapy with Vfend (200 mg) twice a day. Each package
costs 25,000 rubles and it lasts a week.
Please help!

antifungal drugs as Vfend and Ampholip.

cough is gradually going away, and Kostya is taking several antibiotics and seeing
pulmonologist frequently. He is now on home schooling and is studying under 2nd
grade program. Kostya recently started English and he really enjoys it.
Update as of October 6, 2010.
Kostya is still on maintenance chemotherapy and takes Vfend.
He is scheduled for a consultation with Professor Klimko regarding
Aspergillosis. The tests for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection are negative.
Update as of November 24, 2010.
During the consultation, Professor N. Klimko
provided reassurance with a good aspergillosis prognosis, but,
unfortunately, the tests showed the aspergillosis antigen presence in the
blood. The reason for its appearance, considering the length of the
treatment, is not clear, so another consultation is required. The rest of
the treatment goes as planned.
Kostya studies at home with at teacher who is very pleased with him.
