Hello!
My name is Olga Valerievna Alexeeva, my daughter Irina is five months old.
When Ira was two months she was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma, i.e.
tumors in both eyes. She was administered several chemotherapy courses at the
children's oncology unit of City Hospital 31, and now Ira must be taken to the
Retinoblastoma Center at the University clinic of Essen (Germany).
After an examination Ira is to have a special treatment course – brachytherapy,
which will help her retain her eyesight (in Russia all doctors can do is remove
both eyes). The treatment is going to be lengthy and will consist of short courses
with intervals of three weeks to two months, and might last for a total of two
years. According to preliminary calculations the first hospitalization will require
around 10,000 euros, then it will all depend on how the treatment goes. The
hospital can only issue an invoice for the initial examination, all other
calculations will be done at hospital after it.
Ira is expected at the hospital on February 8. The room at a special hotel at
hospital is booked, tickets are bought, interpreters are to meet us there. But
there is no money for the treatment. I do not work now, Ira's father is a driver,
and we cannot earn such a sum within a week.
Please help us with our daughter's treatment!

Update as of January 28, 2010.
The invoice for the examination will be received soon. It is best if
donations are transferred to the bank card of Ira's mother Olga which she
will take with her to Germany and which she will use to pay for her daughter's
treatment.
There is a preliminary agreement with the AiF-Dobroe Serdtse fund that they
will give Ira's case the priority, but the first hospitalization will have
to be paid for by Ira's parents since there is only one week left before
their departure and the fund will simply not have enough time to raise the
money.
We are very grateful to Victoria Reznikova for negotiating with the hospital
and acquiring the invoice, as well as Yana, mother of Sasha Zipenkov,
for the information and moral support of Ira's parents.

We are sincerely grateful to Igor Vladimirovich Kornyshkov, who gave Olga
4,500 euros for Irina's treatment.
The tickets are reserved, invitation from the clinic received, the interview
at the consulate is scheduled for Wednesday, and the room at the Parents'
House by the Uniclinic in Essen is reserved. Ira and Olga will fly our on
Sunday, February 7th. The bill will be issued only after Ira is examined,
so we are still continuing raising money for her therapy.
Update as of February 21, 2010.
Ira and her mom returned to St. Petersburg to continue therapy at City
Hospital No.31. The planned examination in Essen was scheduled for June.
Ira and her mom have enough money for the next trip.

Update as of July 6, 2010.
During planned examination in Essen clinic, two new lesions were found
in Ira's both eyes. One lesion was removed, but the second one is
inoperable, and Ira needs to undergo radiation therapy.
The first cycle will last five weeks. We are sincerely grateful to
Aif-Kind Heart fund for paying for Ira's treatment at the clinic.
The tickets and living expenses will be covered by the money that
Ira's parents received in their bank account from AdVita
Fund supporters.
Ira already underwent two sessions. She feels well.
Update as of August 10, 2010.
Ira underwent 5-day course of radiation, with good results.
On one of her eyes, all lesions are gone, and the other one has a single
inactive lesion. She is now at home in St. Petersburg. Ira feels well
and sees well too. Her control tests are scheduled for October 5th.
Update as of October 25, 2010.
Ira returned from Essen after planned tests. The lesions are inactive, but they are still there.
Ira will need to go for checkups every two months, and she was also recommended to go for MRI scan. Ira feels well.
