Hello!
Our daughter Irina Grushevskaya was born on October 5, 2002 in
Pereyaslavka settlement in Khabarovsky region. Ira has an older sister
Anya who is in the 8th grade. Irina was growing up healthy and active.
However, when she was 4 years old, she started having nosebleeds. After an
examination, she was diagnosed with thrombocytopenic purpura. Irina
underwent a course of treatment, but it was unsuccessful.
After a successive examination, Ira was issued a different diagnosis:
acquired aplastic anemia in a late stage. She was administered two courses
of immunosuppressive therapy. However, this treatment did not produce
positive results as well. Irina constantly needed transfusions of blood
and thrombocytes.
In October 2008 Ira was referred to R. Gorbacheva Institute of Pediatric
Hematology and Transplantology at Pavlov State Medical University, where
she underwent bone marrow transplantation. The search for the bone marrow
donor was paid for by AiF-Kind Heart fund, and we paid for the delivery of
transplant. Ira is now receiving therapy for infection with
cytomegalovirus and acute form of "graft versus host" disease.
I no longer receive sick pay, as it does not exceed three months under the
current law. Our family's income consists of Ira's father's salary. We
have no other sources of income. We need any help: with food, current
medications and tests and apartment rent. We will be grateful for any
support!
Update as of March 20, 2009
