Ira died on January 20, 2012

Hello,
I am writing in the hope that my daughter will get help from good people. We come from Zakharovo village in Ryazan region.
My daughter is a very goal-oriented person and I am sure that she will achieve much in anything she chooses to pursue. At home, and even at the hospital after she got sick, Irina has been a very good student. Unfortunately, Irina did not have time for college entrance tests, but we still have another year. Ira has big plans, she is a smart, curious and persistent young woman. She wanted to see St.Petersburg for a long time, and unfortunately she can only see the city only from the hospital room for now.
Our story is similar to many of others who are treated at R.Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology Institute. Irina has a difficult type of leukemia that can be cured only by transplantation of donor's stem cells.
On April 20th Ira underwent bone marrow transplantation. However, her immune system suffered due to chemotherapy and she developed a complication: fungal infection of her lungs. Ira needs to take Vfend (a package of it costs 26,900 rubles a week) and Intraglobin (a vial costs 17,000 rubles a week), for several months. We are unable to find so much money! Thank you in advance for your help and support!

Medical conclusion

Update as of July 5, 2011. Ira had 100% engraftment of donor's bone marrow. She is in remission in regards to primary diagnosis, but had an acute skin GVHD. Her skin condition has improved since and her doses of hormones are being reduced. Since she has positive antigen to aspergillosis, she still needs Vfend. Ira feels relatively well.

Update as of July 23, 2011. Ira is still monitored as an outpatient. She feels rather well, although she has slight skin GVHD. Her hormonal therapy doses are being gradually reduced. Vfend is still needed.

Update as of August 9, 2011. Ira does not have many news: she feels rather well and her hormonal therapy doses are being reduced. She still needs Vfend and CellCept.
