Hello!
I am Husein Turaev's dad. My son is 10 years old and now he is at City Children Hospital #1 at St. Petersburg. At the end of December 2008 my son got sick and until February 2009 was treated at Tajikistan. It was so until doctors said that they can not do anything more with his illness and he can only be helped in Russia. I have been living in St. Petersburg for 5 years now and work at construction sites as handyman because I need to "feed" my family consisting of 6 people back in Tajikistan.
After I have found out that my son can not be properly treated at home I have moved him to St. Petersburg on the 27th of February. His condition was very bad. On that same day he had a blood transfusion done. After that he was dismissed from the hospital until Monday because the cost of the standard treatment for my son will be around 1 million rubles because he does not have Russian Citizenship.
And first thing Monday our doctors have found us the Charity Fund which was going to pay for my son's treatment. I want to express my gratitude to Charity Fund "Advita". God bless you! I wish you success in all your work. I can not really express my feeling using words. Thank you once more for helping me to save my child. I work as an electrician and ready to help Advita as much as I can during my free time - I can do all electrical works or any other handy works.

Update as of June 3, 2009. We are continuing treatment at Children's hospital No.1. Huseinchon will need two more courses of chemotherapy. In the next few days, he is planned to undergo MRI of his brain.
I started working, but have not yet been paid. We really need a place to live. We are very grateful to Advita fund and St. Petersburg's Parents' forum for the invaluable help and care. Lena, Tatiana, Dima and Irina – we wish you long lives and happy families. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of leukemia chemotherapy unit of Children's hospital No.1 for their professionalism, care, hard work, expertise and treating us well. God will help you with anything and anytime.

Update as of August 8, 2009. Hussein was discharged for supporting therapy, as the main course of treatment is completed. Hussein is in remission in regards to his illness, although he needs therapy with Vesanoid. Hussein's family still needs help with finding and renting an apartment.

Update as of November 25, 2009. Husein feels relatively well. Every two weeks he undergoes re-induction. His family needs financial help with paying apartment rent and buying medications.

Update as of February 3, 2010. On February 4 Husein is coming for medical tests, and the next reinduction starts in the end of February. Husein's father says thank you very much to all supporters who paid for the drugs. Now the boy's father can pay for the apartment himself, but he still needs help with buying the drugs.

Update as of March 10, 2010. Husein underwent another re-induction and feels well. The next re-induction was scheduled for March 18th. For now, he needs to take 6MP in 1.5 times normal dose because his leukocytes are somewhat heightened. Husein goes for tests every week. His father would like to thank Advita Fund and its volunteer Dmitry for buying medications: 6MP and Depakine Chronosphere.

Update as of May 19, 2010. Unfortunately, during planned checkup Husein was diagnosed with a relapse. Further treatment is under discussion.

Update as of June 4, 2010. Husein and his parents decided against anti-relapse therapy. Husein is now at home on palliative therapy.

Update as of July 3, 2010. After consultation with specialists, Husein's parents agreed for his hospitalization. He was started chemotherapy under FLAG protocol.

Update as of July 23, 2010. Huseinchon completed the first cycle of anti-relapse chemotherapy, without complications. Based on test results, he has no blast cells in bone marrow. He is planned to undergo a second cycle of chemotherapy followed by typing of his twin brother, who could be a match for bone marrow transplantation.

Update as of August 18, 2010. Husein has a sepsis after the second chemotherapy course and urgently needs Meronem and Pentaglobin. Matching results are not ready yet.

Update as of August 30, 2010. Husein feels better. Based on results of typing, his twin brother is 100% match. Related transplantation is under discussion.

Update as of September 7, 2010. It was decided to perform transplantation from another Husein's brother (who also matched 100%), rather than his twin, who is too identical and donated bone marrow may not suppress cancer cells. Transplantation date is being discussed. Husein feels well and participates in painting classes with volunteers.

Update as of September 24, 2010. Unfortunately, Husein again has blasts in his bone marrow. Transplantation was postponed, and he will urgently undergo chemotherapy under FLAG protocol. Further therapy depends on his response to chemotherapy.

Update as of October 25, 2010. Unfortunately, after a cycle of chemotherapy, Husein recovered with blasts in his blood, and their numbers are growing rapidly. Transplantation was not deemed a good option. Husein was discharged home for maintenance therapy.
