Another Gulyuzum's photo

Hello!
My name is Gulyuzum Tuisina. I was born in 1985 in Chingizovo village of Baimaksky district of Bashkortostan republic.
When I graduated from Arts College, I began working at a music school. But in May 2009, I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
I am currently in St. Petersburg where I came for evaluation at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology and Transplantology Institute at Pavlov State Medical University to determine whether I can have allogeneic transplantation.
I have four related donors, but I cannot afford their typing, living expenses in St. Petersburg and treatment.
My parents are retired and I am on disability pension. Please help!

Update as of December 29, 2009. I came for tests to St. Petersburg. During the tests, a decision was made regarding bone marrow transplantation. My older sister matched as a donor. She is now in St. Petersburg. The tests are almost over, and transplantation was scheduled for January.

Update as of February 10, 2010. Transplantation went on schedule. Gulyuzum feels well, expect for total lack of appetite.
In the next few days, the doctors plan to transfer her to the outpatient monitoring.

Update as of April 30, 2010. Gulyuzum's condition is stable and she was allowed to go home. She feels well. We are very grateful to everyone who supported her!

Update as of July 20, 2010. Gulyuzum came to St. Petersburg for complete examination. In regards to primary diagnosis, she is in remission. Puncture results and other tests are normal. However, she has high bilirubin and is now being tested for hepatitis and liver GVHD. She was also referred for CT of lungs.

Update as of August 6, 2010. I was diagnosed with GVHD in liver and I was prescribed hormonal therapy. The blood tests are now showing decrease in bilirubin, so the hormonal doses are being gradually reduced.
I feel well now. I hope that after hormonal and immunosuppressive therapy doses are reduced, I will be able to go home for two months.

Update as of August 25, 2010. Hello! After the examination, I was allowed to go home to continue therapy locally. I take Tacrolimus and hormones, and hormonal therapy dosage is gradually decreasing. The next examination will be next month.
I am very grateful to AdVita fund and its supporters for medications, paying for tests, help with buying tickets and providing me with a place to live in St. Petersburg. I would not have done it without you. Thank you!

I feel well and I have a positive outlook. I am grateful to my doctors who were ready to help me day and night. I am particularly grateful to AdVita fund: the people who work there take your problems and your illness close to their hearts. It is very important to feel support when you are away from home. With people like these nearby, you find strength to fight and beat this treacherous disease. I am wishing good health, peace and happiness to everyone.

Update as of July 5, 2011. Gulya came for planned evaluation at the clinic. All the test results are normal. She is in remission in regards to primary diagnosis and feels well.
