Hello!
My name is Ekaterina Stepanchuk. I am a 4th year psychology student
at St. Petersburg's State University. I noticed that my lymph nodes
were enlarged and went for tests. The doctors diagnosed me with
lymphogranulomatosis. The treatment will include several courses
of polychemotherapy. Their number will be determined once the
stage of my disease is verified. That requires me going for PET
imaging that costs 16,000 rubles.
I am certain that I will have enough emotional and physical
strength to overcome my diseases with support of my
friends and family.
Please help me with paying for the tests and costly medications.
Update as of February 3, 2010.
In the middle of December, Ekaterina underwent PET imaging that helped
determine diagnosis - lymphogranulomatosis (stage 4 with bone metastases).
She started high-dosage chemotherapy. Ekaterina underwent two cycles of
chemotherapy and fully recovered. She now feels well.
Based on CT scan results, the tumors in lymph nodes have decreased by 70%,
but lesions in the bones continue accumulating contrast. Ekaterina needs
to undergo PET imaging again to more accurately determine the spread of
the disease. After the test results, the doctors will be able to offer
further treatment.
PET imaging was scheduled for February 9 and will cost 16,000 rubles. Katya
asked us for help with paying for the test.
Update as of February 20, 2010.
On February 9 Katya had PET done which testified to loci in bone tissue.
The doctors decided to continue with high dose chemotherapy. Katya is going
to have two more high dose chemotherapy blocks which will be followed by
PET again (some 1.5 months later) so that the doctors could decide on further
treatment. Ekaterina is now in hospital for chemotherapy, she is feeling
fine and says thank you to all supporters for their help with paying for
tomography.
Update as of February 28, 2010.
Katya underwent a course of chemotherapy and already recovered.
The doctors allowed her to go home for a week. Afterwards, she will
start the next cycle. In about a month, Katya will need PET imaging
that costs 16,000 rubles. Katya is asking for help with paying for PET.
Update as of March 14, 2010.
Katya was sick and a cycle of chemotherapy had to be postponed for a week.
She now feels well and if her test results are good, she will start another
chemotherapy cycle.
Update as of April 3, 2010.
Katya completed the 4th cycle of chemotherapy and she already recovered.
She feels well and was allowed to go home. PET scan was scheduled for
April 8th and will cost 16,000 rubles. Please help Katya with paying for it.
Update as of April 15, 2010.
Katya has gotten sick, she has sinus trouble, so PET was rescheduled
for April 20. The girl is now treated wiyh antibiotics and is feeling
somewhat better, but she's still having headaches in the evenings.
Update as of April 30, 2010.
PET imaging as of April 20th showed a lesion accumulating contrast agent.
Katya will need to undergo three more chemotherapy cycles, after which she
will have to repeat the test.
Update as of October 30, 2010.
Katya completed treatment under the protocol in August and had complete examination.
Based on PET results, she has no lesions with contract uptake. All is well. Katya was discharged home.
She will have planned tests every three months.
