Hello!
My name is Dina. I am 25 years old. I live in Novokuznetsk.
After I graduated from high school, I enrolled into Pedagogy
College, department of pedagogy and psychology. I am happily married.
We really wanted to have a child and waited for me to finish college.
It seemed all was going great. However, in 2008 when I was in my final
year, just before I was about to graduate, unexpected happened. It
all started with feeling unwell. I thought I had low blood pressure,
and then during the lecture at the college I passed out. My husband
left everything he was doing and literally brought me to the hospital
in his arms. There I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
and it was already advanced. It was a serious challenge: for two months
I could not get up and sit down and was lying down most of the time.
My mom had to leave her job to take care of me. Treatment lasted two
years, and in 2009 I started having pains in my hip joint: due to therapy
I developed aseptic necrosis. Only in summer of 2010 I stopped chemotherapy
and was so happy to put that torture behind me. .. But my joy lasted just six months.
Relapse occurred and everything had to be started all over again, except this time
chemotherapy is even more aggressive. Now my only chance to survive is to undergo
bone marrow transplantation from an unrelated donor. A donor search and related
procedures are expensive. On our own, with the help of friends and relatives,
we raised just 5,000 euros from the 17,500 euros we need.
I would like to ask the people to help me get back to normal life!
Thank you in advance! I believe in human kindness.
Update as of December 25, 2011.
Dina feels OK and she is now at home. The next chemotherapy
cycle will start on January 2nd. A donor was not found yet.
Update as of February 11, 2012.
Dina's transplantation was scheduled for March 28.
Update as of March 19, 2012.
Delivery of transplant for Dina will come from Canada
and will cost approximately 150,000 rubles.
The help is needed urgently.
Update as of April 17, 2012.
Dina underwent bone marrow transplant on schedule. Dina feels well
and is recovering. She had slight increases in temperature, which
may have been caused by rapid transplant engraftment. In the next
few days Dina is planned to be discharged for monitoring as a day patient.
Since a donor for Dina was found in Canada, the cost of cell harvesting
was significantly higher. We urgently need to transfer
19,924.15 euros to the registry.
