My daughter Dasha is 14 months old. Since birth her hemoglobin levels in blood
are plummeting and she needs regular blood transfusions. But the transfusions
do not help, as hemoglobin continues to drop. The doctors told us it was
bone marrow insufficiency. And then our daughter was diagnosed with
myelodysplastic syndrome at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology
and Transplantology Institute.
The doctors told us that the only way Dasha's life can be saved is through
bone marrow transplantation. Her older brother did not match as a donor,
and we were recommended to look for an unrelated donor at the international
registry. We now need to raise 15,000 euros for the donor search and
2,500 euros for delivery of transplant to St. Petersburg. My husband
is the only breadwinner in our family and we will never be able to
raise so much money. Please help us save our daughter!

Update as of August 2, 2010.
We are sincerely grateful to Russian Help Fund for agreeing to pay
10,000 euros for bone marrow collection from the donor. We now need to
urgently raise 5,000 euros for the donor search and 2,500 euros
for delivery of transplant.
Update as of December 9, 2010.
Dasha feels well. Donor search has been paid for. While the search is underway,
Dasha is receiving supporting hormonal therapy.
Update as of June 26, 2011.
Dasha is now at home. From time to time she comes for follow-up
examinations. For 6 months now hemoglobin counts have been normal
without blood transfusions. The blasts level is also normal.
The next examination is in September.
