Hello!
We are Pavlov family from Kazan. Our family has mom, dad and two kids. Our children were long-awaited. Our first son is 11 and Danilka is only 3. Since birth, Danilka has always been very active and healthy boy. His eyes were always lit up and an open and happy smile never left his face. I remember distinctly the day he was diagnosed. Anaplastic anemia, severe form. This disease manifests itself as inability of bone marrow to make three main types of blood cells (erythrocytes, platelets and leukocytes), without which a human cannot live.
On January 23, 2009 Danila ended up at Children's Russian Clinical hospital in a serious condition. He immediately had a puncture. On January 25th Danila started Atgam therapy. The day after my husband took our older son's blood for testing for compatibility as a bone marrow donor. Unfortunately, he did not match. There was no matching unrelated donors are the international registry as well.
The therapy with Atgam did not produce expected results. After 120 days we were prescribed another course of the same drug. It too was not effective. At that point, our only hope was cord blood transplant. With that request we came to Transplantology Institute in St. Petersburg and they were very responsive to us.
This is the last hope to give life to our Danilka, to save the smallest member of our family whom we all love dearly! Every day we live with the thought of saving our son. Please help us!
A sample of cord blood for Danila was found. We will travel to St. Petersburg for transplantation on October 22, and transplantation is scheduled for November 1. Please help us with renting an apartment in St. Petersburg.

Update as of October 27, 2009. Danya came with his parents to St.Petersburg for examination. Cord blood transplantation was scheduled for the beginning of November.

Update as of November 13, 2009. Danya was hospitalized at BMT clinic. He started pre-transplantation chemotherapy.

Update as of December 24, 2009. Danya had a transplantation but unfortunately the transplant has not survived. The doctors decided to perform another transplantation from one of the parents combined with the transplantation of compatible cord blood cells. The boy's father is most likely to become his donor.
Danya is now at the intensive care unit, he has mycotic infection and needs Albumin and Cansidas.

Update as of February 1, 2010. Danya had second transplantation and is now recovering. At first he felt relatively well, but his condition somewhat worsened afterwards. His leukocyte count went down and he lost a lot of weight. The donor's bone marrow is being stimulated by Neupogen.

Update as of February 17, 2010. Unfortunately, the transplant did not engraft again and Danya received a new cell infusion. He is now at the intensive care unit under the doctors' watch.
Danya urgently needs Neo-Cytotec to fight cytomegalovirus infection. Each bottle costs 12,000 rubles, and Danya needs several bottles before his response to the therapy can be assessed.

Update as of March 3, 2010. Danya was transferred to the room from intensive care unit. He is continuing Neo-Cytotec therapy.

Update as of March 14, 2010. Unfortunately, donor's bone marrow did not engraft. Danya is continuing therapy for cytomegalovirus infection. Further treatment is under discussion.

Update as of March 23, 2010. Danya's condition improved, his temperature went down and leukocyte count increased – possibly due to engraftment of donor's bone marrow. If positive changes continue, Danya may be transferred to outpatient monitoring.

Update as of March 26, 2010. Danya is still at the hospital under doctors' watch. His blood counts are very low.

Update as of April 3, 2010. Danya's leukocyte count increased and his bone marrow had started functioning. He was discharged for outpatient monitoring and lives in a rented apartment.

Update as of April 30, 2010. Danya was discharged for outpatient monitoring. He needs therapy with Neupogen and Vfend.

Update as of July 8, 2010. Danya was diagnosed with meningitis. He is now receiving appropriate therapy. The bone marrow transplanted from his parent is not working well, and his sister did not match a as donor. A search for an unrelated donor is now underway at the international registry.

Update as of August 18, 2010. Dasha underwent an autotransplantation. Due to a weak immunity system the girl now has bacterial sepsis. She is in intensive care in a grave condition, on artificial lung ventilation. We need help to be able to hire a nurse.
