Dasha died on October 22, 2010
Hello!
My name is Natalia Palnikova. My daughter Dasha will turn 17 on
November 11, 2010. For more than two years she has been suffering
from acute biphenotypic leukemia.
We came to St. Petersburg from Magadan. Unfortunately, in our city
these types of diseases are not treated. At the Pediatric Hematology
and Transplantology Institute the doctors recommend for Dasha to
undergo bone marrow transplantation after finishing all the
chemotherapy courses. She did not have any matching donors at the
international registry. So now she is considered for haploidentical
bone marrow transplantation (when a donor is one of the parents, a
partial match).
Dasha's father died in 2006. I am a single parent. I really need help
right now. We need 15,000 rubles for typing of my blood and in the
future, after the procedure, we will need to rent an apartment in St.
Petersburg. Dasha and I will be grateful for any help.

Update as of July 1, 2010.
Dasha received bone marrow transplant from her mother on June 16th.
She is now recovering. Dasha is still in cytopenia, but her blood
counts are gradually growing. For now, she has severe fatigue and
nausea and cannot eat much. Since Dasha's parents paid for all
the typing and tests related to transplantation, they now have
no money left.
They need financial support for living expenses, tests and medications.
Update as of July 27, 2010.
Dasha recovered after transplantation with blasts in her blood.
Donor's bone marrow percentage dropped to 20%. She will undergo
chemotherapy followed by donor's lymphocyte infusion.
Update as of August 11, 2010.
After infusion of donor's lymphocytes, donor's bone marrow content rose to 40%.
Additional donor's lymphocyte infusion is planned. Dasha feels well.
Update as of September 29, 2010.
More than a hundred days have passed since Dasha underwent haploidentical bone
marrow transplantation. Fortunately, the treatment has been effective, and the donor
bone marrow has grown to 100%. Remission could be achieved as regards leukaemia.
However, Dasha needs CSF drugs ("Neupogen") and receives blood components
transfusions from time to time. She is feeling alright.
Update as of October 18, 2010.
Dasha is still on artificial lung ventilation and hemodialysis. Her bilirubin count decreased,
but she is still in a critical condition and in a coma.
