Denis died on June 1, 2011

Hello,
My name is Ksenia Bychkova. My letter is to ask for help.
Our family is going though a difficult time.
My husband Denis is 29. In October 2009 our daughter was born. Denis is a very loving and caring husband and father, great conversationalist, hard worker and reliable friend. He is a very good man!
In 2006 he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. He had long-term treatment, including radiation, but none of it was very successful.
We are not despairing, as we still have a chance to overcome this terrible illness: bone marrow transplant. A donor for the transplant is sought at the international registry. It requires 15,000 euros for the search and 2,500 euros for delivery of transplant to St. Petersburg.
Unfortunately, we do not have this much money. Please help us raise the required amount. Thank you in advance.

Update as of August 4, 2010. Denis is now at home. He takes Reaferon and waits for the donor to be found. His blood counts are good and he feels rather well. Unfortunately, for now our efforts to raise money for the donor search were unsuccessful.

Update as of March 12, 2011. A donor was found for Denis. Transplantation was scheduled for March 17th. We are sincerely grateful to all Denis's supporters whose help allowed cover the costs of donor search, transplant harvesting and its delivery.

Update as of March 28, 2011. It is now 12 days past the transplantation, Denis is in cytopenia and has severe mucositis. He is administered pain killers.

Update as of April 5, 2011. Denis had rapid engraftment syndrome and liver problems. He was in intensive care unit temporarily. Now his condition is stable. He feels better and was transferred back to his room.

Update as of May 5, 2011. Denis was hospitalized again due to signs of active GVHD. Based on test results, he was diagnosed with cytomegalovirus. Denis is receiving antiviral drugs and hormones. He feels relatively well.

Update as of May 14, 2011. Denis's condition is getting worse. Vein-occlusive liver disease is progressing. Denis is in intensive care unit on a ventilator. He urgently needs defibrotide.

Update as of May 20, 2011. Denis had improvement with his lungs. He was transferred from full lung ventilation to support ventilation. He is conscious and breathes by himself. His liver is still in a bad condition. Therapy with defibrotide will be started as soon as the medication is delivered to the hospital.
