Hello!
Hello! My name is Anastasia Maloryan and I need help.
Until November 2008 we lived happily - me, my husband Alexei and our
little sunshine Polina. In November 2008, during a regular checkup,
I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. I completed two cycles
of chemotherapy at municipal clinical hospital No. 81 in Moscow and then
I was transferred to Blokhin Russian Oncology Center where I underwent
two more cycles of high-dose chemotherapy and four more cycles of chemotherapy.
I achieved remission, but in October 2010 leukemia returned.
And one more shock - my husband too was diagnosed with cancer of his tongue…
Both of us had to undergo treatment at the same time.
Also, it became clear that I need bone marrow transplantation. Without it,
leukemia will continue recurring. We are thankful to all out friends,
everyone who is helping us, who literally saved our lives by raising money
for bone marrow donor search for me and medications for Alexei. Now almost
everything is behind us. Alesha completed chemotherapy and radiation
and feels rather well. I underwent bone marrow transplantation on July 8th
at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantation Institute in St. Petersburg.
I then recovered and was discharged for day hospital. Bone marrow engrafted
well and is functioning. I am in remission. However, there is an issue:
cytomegalovirus infection. I need Valcyte medication that costs close to
50,000 rubles a pack, which lasts me a month. This medication is not
available at the clinic currently, and I need to take it for
several months.
I am asking for help. Neither I nor my husband can work at this time.
At home we have my retired mom who looks after our 11-year old daughter.
We cannot cope without support from others. We will be very grateful
to everyone who responds!
Update as of September 11, 2011.
Anastasia has a grave form of skin GVH reaction. She was administered
hormones and photopheresis. Her condition is slowly getting better.
She also needs Valcyte for infectious complications. Her basic disease is in remission.
Update as of September 22, 2011.
GVHD is gradually improving and Nastia feels better.
The clinic is currently out of Cellcept and Nastia is asking
for help with buying it. Valcyte is also needed.
Update as of December 24, 2011.
The bone marrow examination held on December 19 revealed blasts.
The second puncture showed that the blast counts had increased,
which means it's a relapse.
Immunosuppressant drug doses have been decreased to the minimum,
and anti-relapse chemotherapy is coming soon. Nastia will
be administered therapy at the Blokhin Russian Oncology
Research Institute in Moscow.

Update as of February 28, 2012.
On January 3rd Nastia started anti-relapse chemotherapy with
cytosar and oncotron. A five-day cycle was planned but was
interrupted on the 3rd day as her blood counts plummeted.
It was not effective.
Nastia managed to keep herself hospitalized and start therapy
with a new drug, which she had to pay for. She is now being
treated with Vidaza (azacytidine). One vial of this drug
costs 46,000 rubles, and a cycle costs 646,000 rubles.
We raised the money for the first cycle, but not the second.
Please help Nastia pay for the 2nd cycle! If she achieves
remission, she will again travel to St. Petersburg for
evaluation and donor's lymphocyte infusion.
She is staying strong.
