Hello!
I am Alla Korotichэs mom. I am asking everyone who can to help my daughter!
Alla is 26. She is a mom of a 3-year-old Andryusha whom she loves dearly. Her
little son is staying at home with his dad and every day he asks him when will
his mom get well and come back… We live in Ukraine, in Poltava. Alla is an
endocrinologist by profession, although she only was able to work for a year.
In July 2011 my daughter got a terrifying diagnosis - acute myeloblastic leukemia.
Her disease history is very similar to many of those who are now at R. Gorbacheva
Pediatric Hematology & Transplantation Institute. Alla started treatment in Poltava
where she had two cycles of chemotherapy, but did not achieve remission. We came
to St. Petersburg to continue treatment. After a cycle of high-dose chemotherapy,
she still did not have remission. Now our only hope is for bone marrow transplantation.
Unfortunately, an unrelated donor was not found for Alla. She now needs to continue
high-dose chemotherapy, after which she will undergo related bone marrow transplantation,
from me.
Alla is a citizen of Ukraine, and she has to pay for her treatment in St. Petersburg.
We started rasing money for treatment while still in Poltava, but we still lack funds
and we have very little time to raise hundreds of thousands of rubles.
I am asking all the caring and kind people. Please help us save our Allochka's life - she
is a sweet and radiant person!
Update as of December 12, 2011.
After a cycle of chemotherapy under FLAG regimen, Alla achieved remission.
A second cycle followed by haploidentical bone marrow transplantation from
her mother is planned, as matching donor was not found at the registry.
We received a bill for 449,608 rubles for equipment required for haploidentical
bone marrow transplantation. Please help Alla with paying it!
Update as of January 26, 2012.
The equipment for haploidentical transplantation for Alla
was purchased. Alla started pre-transplantation chemotherapy.
She feels relatively well.
Update as of February 8, 2012.
On February 6th Alla was transplanted from her mom. On February 8th she
had stem cell infusion. She is now in cytopenia, in a stable condition.
She feels OK.
Update as of April 18, 2012.
Alla recovered fully after transplantation and was discharged for outpatient
monitoring. Alla did not tolerate tacrolimus well, but then she improved. Alla
has signs of skin GVHD, grade 2. She was prescribed hormonal therapy. Based on
puncture results, she is in remission, and her blood counts are rather good.
