Hello!
my son Antosha is now 5. When he was just 18 months old, he got sick. At the Regional Children's Clinical hospital in Irkutsk he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The treatment Anton received then worked, but in just three years he had a relapse. My son almost completely lost his vision!
Irkutsk doctors referred us for a consultation at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantation Institute. Here we got hope that bone marrow transplantation will help Anton. Fortunately, an unrelated donor was found and on June 6, 2011 transplantation took place.
My son spent two weeks in ICU in a critical condition: he had fever, pneumonia, and skin form of "graft versus host disease", grade 4.
Now that it has been 3.5 months since transplant, Anton's condition became stable. He is even recovering vision in his right eye: he can already orient himself spatially and started discerning colors. To continue treatment, he needs expensive medication, Vfend, which we are unable to afford. A box of it costs 26,990 rubles and lasts just a week. The clinic currently cannot provide us with it.
Please help my son - he now has a chance to get well and live a normal life.
Please help.

Elena, Anton's mom
