Alla died on October 10, 2010
Hello!
My name is Alla, I am 44 years old. In October 2006 I was diagnosed with
intestinal cancer with uterine metastases. I was operated. Then I was on treatment
at Petrov Oncology Research Institute for six months. I felt well for three
years afterwards. However, in May 2009 planned testing discovered metastases
in my neck vertebra and supraclavicular lymph node.
I completed treatment with high-dosage chemotherapy. My treatment is paid for
by a federal quota, but I have to pay for the maintenance therapy drugs and
medications for side effects of treatment. My illness also requires continuing
monitoring via costly tests. I cannot work full time since I get very tired due
to my condition. I live with my son who is a day college student. We lack money
catastrophically. I am asking for your support. I am grateful to everyone who
responds in advance.
Alla
Epicrisis
Medical conclusion
Update as of January 17, 2010.
Alla is recovering after therapy. Unfortunately, the recovery is
taking longer than expected. Aside from complications from chemotherapy,
she is also bothered by neurologic pains in her arm. She is only able
to work 3 days a week.
The planned tests are scheduled for the end of January. Alla asked us
to thank everyone who us helping and supporting her.
Update as of February 11, 2010.
Alla completed planned examination. She is doing well in regards
to her main diagnosis. However, she still suffers from
gastrointestinal complications and has to take
medications daily.
Alla also went to see neurologist with complaint of the constant
pains in her arm. The verdict was discouraging: the pains are due
to metastatic damage to neck vertebra. It means the problem can
not be resolved, but can be managed with continuous medication.
Alla was recommended the following: Lyrica (14 pills that last
3.4 days and cost 500 rubles), Katadolon (10 pills cost 500 rubles).
Alla really needs help with buying medications!
Update as of May 26, 2010.
Alla is undergoing chemotherapy with Katadolon. She does not feel
very well and her blood counts are lower, but not critically so.
She will need to rest for a week, and then undergo chemotherapy
in pills for a week.
In two weeks, Alla will travel to a clinic where she will be examined.
The results of that will help determine whether she will need to buy
Katadolon for next cycle of chemotherapy, or it will be replaced
by another drug.
Alla is still suffering from severe pains in her arm that are
only alleviated by Tramal.
Update as of July 12, 2010.
At the oncologist's recommendation I was taking
Xeloda at home for 1.5 months. During tests, it turned out it was
ineffective. At the latest CT scan last week, I was found to have
metastases in my liver and lungs. I will now be switched to more harsh
chemotherapy.
Because of my illness, I have constant pains in my arm, shoulder and chest.
I cannot go without injection and Tramadol pills. On some days I have to
have two injections. I lost a lot of weight.
At Petrov Institute where I am treated currently, I was told that they can
no longer have me as a patient. I was referred to the City hospital.

Update as of August 13, 2010.
Alla completed the first cycle of chemotherapy at Oncology hospital at pr.
Veteranov. She did not tolerate it well. She is now at home and feels unwell
due to serious side effects. Once a week she has to have blood tests, and
due to her general condition we arranged for her to be tested at home.
Alla is scheduled for control tests on August 31.
It is not yet known when Alla will undergo the second chemotherapy cycle,
as she is seriously malnourished. She needs help with buying anti-nausea
drugs and liver supporting drugs.
