Hello!
My name is Andrei Reshetnev, I am 45. After school I graduated from the Moscow
Radio-Electronic Devices Technical School and served in the army in the Far
East. I am married and have two children: my daughter is a college student and my
son goes to school. My wife and I love each other and have a good life together.
Our daughter Ira is the student of the Moscow Institute of Aviation
Technology – Tsiolkovsky Russian State Technological University, our son Aleksei
is a high school student.
I have always considered myself to be a healthy person and have never needed
any medical help. But in April 2009 I have to go to a therapeutist at a city
polyclinic – I had difficulty swallowing and my cervical lymph nodes were enlarged.
I was examined and then admitted to the hematology unit of Moscow City Clinical
Hospital 60 where I was diagnosed with chronic lympholeukemia.
Treatment was administered, and then I was recommended to have a consultation at
the Raisa Gorbacheva Institute of Children's Hematology and Transplantology.
The board of doctors chaired by Professor Afanasiev came to the following conclusion.
Diagnosis: chronic lympholeukemia, stage II (according to Rai).
Recommended:
- HLA matching to find a non-relative donor
- homogeneous non-relative transplantation of hemopoietic stem cells if donor
if found
- hospitalization to the Raisa Gorbacheva Institute of Children's Hematology
and Transplantology of the Academician Pavlov State Medical University of
St. Petersburg for the transplantation of hemopoietic stem cells.
Based on the matching results a preliminary donor search has been conducted.
There are enough potential donors for me in the international registry.
We have received an invoice from Germany for the 15,000 euros needed to pay
for the preliminary services.
At present our family's income is made up by my wife's salary, her mother's
pension (she lives with us), my disability pension and a state allowance for
our son. That amounts to 56,130 roubles per month.
I would like to work and be of help but that will only be possible after the
bone marrow transplantation surgery and my recovery. Transplantation is my only
chance.
Please help me!
Update as of May 19, 2010.
Andrei's relatives and co-workers raised the required amount for the
donor search at the international registry and delivery of transplant.
Update as of June 6, 2010.
Transplantation is scheduled for July 1.
Update as of September 17, 2010.
Unfortunately, after bone marrow transplantation, Andrei had a relapse.
Chemotherapy was started, but it was not effective.
