Hello!
Our daughter and sister is a young and promising violinist who represented Kazakhstan at numerous international music contests. This young lady is Asel Panabergenova from Almaty.
In early 2011 she developed acute leukemia. She is only 25 years old but already managed to accomplish a lot in her life. She has studied violin since her childhood. Her mother died when Asel was just a kid, so she had to work hard to achieve significant success in her music career. Asel is a prizewinner at several international contests. She was the winner of the 1st prize at the International Violin Competition in Italy in 2000, of the Grand-Prix and the President Cup at International Contest Shabyt in Astana in 2005 etc. For over several years she was performing as a lead violinist at state chamber orchestra Soloists Academy under the direction of People's Artist of Kazakhstan Aiman Musohodgayeva.
Three courses of chemotherapy were performed in Almaty to control rapidly progressing disease. Unfortunately, they were not as successful as expected. According to specialists from Russia, Asel needs bone marrow transplantation. Treatment offered in St. Petersburg costs millions of rubles. We initiated a fundraising campaign in Kazakhstan to raise 15000 euros for donor search at International bone marrow registry and another 2.5 million rubles for bone marrow transplantation at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantation Institute in St. Petersburg. We would like to ask our Russian supporters: please help us save the life of this sweet and lovely young lady who is so passionate and dedicated about her music!
Thank you very much

Bill for the donor search in Germany
Discharge summary

Update as of October 19, 2011. Asel has had 2 high-dose chemotherapy courses in St. Petersburg and is now having the third one. Unfortunately a stable remission hasn't been achieved yet. The donor hasn't been found.
Asel and her relatives and friends would like to thank all supporters who helped them raise the first part of the sum needed to initiate the bone marrow donor search!
Transplantation has to be performed as soon as possible.

Update as of October 30, 2011. Asel is recovering after a cycle of chemotherapy under HAM regimen. She achieved remission. Unfortunately, she only had 4 potential donors in the international registry, and none of them matched fully. Further treatment is under discussion.

Update as of November 26, 2011. Asel was allowed to go home for 2-3 months. A donor was not found yet. Our whole family hopes for the best. We are very grateful to all our supporters for their help!

Update as of April 18, 2012. As no matching donor was found in the registry, it was decided to perform autologous bone marrow transplantation. Acel arrived in St. Petersburg and was hospitalized at R. Gorbacheva Institute, where she will undergo high-dose chemotherapy followed by cell harvest.
