My son Sasha was born on June 7, 1994. He was growing up as a quiet and
active boy. He enjoyed going to preschool, loved playing with clay and
building models.
He was a good student at school, and liked to play chess and volleyball.
Sasha did not have many children's illnesses, except for chickenpox when he
was 5. He really likes computers and dreams of becoming a programmer.
Sasha got sick when he was 15. On March 7, 2009 we noticed a bump on his
neck. We went to a local clinic where Sasha was given antibiotics and
nothing else. The doctors could not even bring down Sasha's temperature
that stayed at 38.5-39C.
We managed to get a referral to the regional clinic in Krasnodar. At the
clinic, Sasha was examined and diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He
was started on chemotherapy and treated for two months, but in June Sasha
got a new tumor and had a relapse. It was biopsied and a new diagnosis was
established: anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
We continued chemotherapy and Sasha had many complications along with it.
And now we are referred to R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology and
Transplantology Institute in St. Petersburg for bone marrow transplantation.
We came for further treatment with hope that we will be helped and Sasha
will be cured. We believe in it. Please help us with living expenses in
St. Petersburg for the period of treatment, as well as with buying
medications.
Thank you very much!
Svetlana, Alexander's mom
