Hello!
My name is Alexander Kruglov. I am 53. I am a medical audiologist and I work
with deaf people and try to recover their hearing. Three years ago I was
diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. Unfortunately, I turned out to be
resistant to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It means that the group of the
most advanced medications that save 90% of patients with the same diagnosis
does not work for me.
The only option I have to save my life is to undergo bone marrow transplantation.
In my case, related transplantation is not possible. I need a donor from the
international registry, which means I need to pay for the search of the donor
and delivery of transplant (17,500 euros).
I am grateful to everyone just for visiting this site.
I would also like to use this occasion to thank the doctors who are helping
me fight for my life: Maya Volkova, the best doctor I ever met and a wonderful
person, Elena Unukova, Elena Morozova, Valentina Ivanova, Natalia Novitskaya,
Elena Samyshina and Alexei Korneev, as well as my family, friends and everyone
who is helping me. For you, I keep on living.
Update as of October 30, 2010.
We are sincerely grateful to Pomogi.Org fund for raising funds for Alexander. We
will temporarily stop our fundraising efforts. Unfortunately, Alexander is
not responding as well to the therapy anymore. Leukocytosis is increasing.
Update as of January 17, 2011.
Alexander was hospitalized at Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology
Institute for bone marrow transplantation. He is undergoing chemotherapy.
Transplantation is scheduled for January 19th.
Update as of March 22, 2011.
Transplantation went as planned, and bone marrow engrafted and functions well.
Alexander was discharged for outpatient monitoring. He feels rather well and
has a good appetite. He walks for three hours a day.
Alexander has some fatigue and sleepiness, but his skin is normal and
he started growing hair back. Based on control puncture, he is
in complete remission.
