Hello!
We are the relatives and friends of Aleksander Borisenko. At the age of 26
Sasha was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia which divided his life
into two parts. The first part was the childhood of a common boy, with all its
joys and sorrows, school, graduation party, military service as seaman, service
at the militia of the town of Ryazan. Childhood dreams and plans began to
come true: Sasha became a student of the law department at a university and
met a nice and kind girl.
What else does a young and energetic man need to be happy and make his family
and friends happy too? But the first, carefree part of his life was over, and
another, scary life began.
Having learned about his disease accidentally, Sasha did not despair but went
through all necessary treatment with courage. After a treatment course at the
hematology unit of the Ryazan Regional Clinical Hospital he was sent to the
St. Petersburg Institute of Children's Hematology and Transplantology.
At present bone marrow transplantation is being considered, which implies
significant expenses. Donor search is 15,000 euros, and transplant delivery
from the European sampling center to St. Petersburg is another 2,500 euros.
Sasha's salary is not large, his mother had to quit work to be able to be
with him all the time, especially since he is far away from home.
Plus they have to rent an apartment, pay for the transportation and buy food.
Of course all Sasha's friends are trying their best to help him, but that is
not enough for the surgery which his life depends on.
We believe that with your support that second stage of Sasha's life with be
followed by the third one – happy and joyful. Sasha will be healthy and happy
again and realize all his dreams and our hopes. Thank you all very much for
helping Sasha recover and be happy.
Update as of August 4, 2010.
Alexander's friends and relatives were able to raise and transfer additional
4,000 euros for bone marrow donor search. Sasha is now in Moscow, he is in
remission. Unfortunately, during treatment he was found to have thrombosis
at the heart valve wall. Sasha is now taking Clexane to dissolve the thrombus.
He also has residual effects of a stroke he suffered during the first
chemotherapy cycle he had in Ryazan. Other than that, he feels relatively well.
Since he does not have aspergillosis infection, based on the latest test
results, he was switched to Orungal from Vfend.
Update as of November 10, 2010.
Based on planned examination, Alexander has secondary leukemia (it is not
a relapse, as he is in remission in regards to lymphoblastic leukemia.
This time, he is diagnosed with myeloblastic leukemia). Alexander is
hospitalized at Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology Institute for
chemotherapy. Transplantation is scheduled for December.
Update as of December 9, 2010.
Unfortunately, Alexander did not respond to FLAG chemotherapy
and did not achieve remission. It has been decided to go ahead
with transplatation because all other treatment options are
already exhausted. The transplantation is scheduled for
December 15th.
According to CT scan results, he has progression in lungs,
so Vfend was prescribed in 600 mg/day dose. Alexander's
debt to Morsch register is 9000 euro. The funds for
transplant delivery were collected by his relatives.
Update as of December 24, 2010.
On December 15th Alexander underwent a bone marrow transplant
from an unrelated donor. We are sincerely grateful to Morsch fund
that provided a transplant without full prepayment, just under
guarantee from AdVita. A week has passed after the transplantation;
Sasha is in cytopenia, and urgently need blood transfusions
(donors with 1 and 2 blood group with Rh(-) are needed).
He still needs Vfend. We are grateful to everyone who helps Alexander.
